Science: LIGO Can Observe The Gravitational Waves Einstein Predicted Over 100 Years Ago (Video)
So, the genius of Einstein is on display once again. But for this bit of knowledge he posited over a century ago, he thought there could never be any real ‘evidence’ to confirm it. Black holes, the collision of black holes, resulting gravitational waves… all fodder for sci-fi books at best in the time of Einstein. Buuuuut…
When Albert Einstein predicted that two colliding black holes could cause gravitational waves in the fabric of space, he was sure to mention he never thought we’d confirm the elusive waves exist. But he was wrong: we did, in 1974, and now scientists are using a giant laser-based experiment called LIGO to try and observe gravitational waves.
