The gripping 2002 film, “City of God” (see trailer after the jump), hit viewers in the heart with a story straight from of Brazilian streets, featuring native actors who (for the most part) weren’t acting…  Rather, they were sharing what’s real life-and-death in the ‘City’ just 15 miles outside lovely touristy Rio de Janeiro.

The above clip is for a revisit to the ‘City’ 10 years later. This documentary by Cavi Borges and Luciano Vidigal looks back in on subjects from the original film. Youngsters from the streets of Rio back then, their lives have changed of course – in part because of the movie and the attention it brought to aspects of Brazilian culture. A full flick is slated for release by the end of 2012, and should be considered a must watch.
