“Aquaman” Debuted As The #1 Movie (Video)

Have you seen the latest DC movie “Aquaman” yet? Looks like DC is hitting the come-from-behind trail hard with this one. Here’s the last teaser for the movie that took the top spot this past weekend (according to Variety, see their take on the flick after the jump).
Loving the way they got the archnemesis Black Manta’s look just right (e.g. like we remember from back in the day, but modernized a just a touch).

Alright! Go Team DC. With the new badass “Aquaman” movie coming out. Check out the trailer that touches on memories of a school-age Arthur Curry, family intrigue, battling his arch-nemesis Black Manta, and more.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,†starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.

Promising true cross-cultural filmmaking – an American-scripted story told about, and in, China while remaining authentic. Starring Matt Damon, so it should be epic. Watch the piece above for proof. In theaters next year (2017).
But… will “The Great Wall” be accepted? Don’t think [at least] some Asians are feeling Hollywood putting out yet another White-man-saves-the-Asians movie. Even if it is a fantasy flick. Peep the Tweet-heat after the jump.

Short Film: ‘The Smile Man’ Starring Willem Dafoe (Video)

Jameson Irish Whiskey has enlisted some of the premier film actors of our time to bring short films developed by its “First Shot” contestants to life on the company’s YouTube Channel. This is “The Smile Man” starring Willem Dafoe.
‘…giving people a ‘first shot’ in the film industry by having their short film produced by Trigger Street Productions and giving them the chance to direct Willem Dafoe in the leading role.’
Entrants from South Africa, Russia, and the US were invited to write a script of no more than 7 pages based on one of three themes – ‘Legendary’ or ‘Humorous’ or a ‘Very Tall Tale.’
