Is There A Link Between Former Toronto Mayor And The Dixon City Bloods? (Documentary)
As usual, VICE asks the toughest questions: Does the gang involved in the Rob Ford crack scandal actually exist? There is a neighborhood called Dixon. Truth. In 2013, police raided the area; alleging that a street gang called the “Dixon City Bloods” was responsible for crack and gun operations across southern Ontario. Facts. Several alleged gang members appeared in a photo with the former Toronto mayor, and the group released video that ignited his notorious crack scandal. And here we are…
But where are we for real? Can the gun violence, gang activity, street players’ moves, and media and police reports actually tie together in a substantial way; one that signifies a true criminal organization?
VICE investigates.

VICE ON HBO: STATE OF SURVEILLANCE (THE EDWARD SNOWDEN PIECE)
State of Surveillance (Documentary)
Damn. Privacy is an illusion. That’s not the future; that’s NOW. If anyone would know, it’s former NSA’er, current whistleblower in exile, Edward Snowden. And if anyone can get at the core of the story, it’s VICE.
When NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden leaked details of massive government surveillance programs in 2013, he ignited a raging debate over digital privacy and security. That debate came to a head this year, when Apple refused an FBI court order to access the iPhone of alleged San Bernardino Terrorist Syed Farook. Meanwhile, journalists and activists are under increasing attack from foreign agents. To find out the government’s real capabilities, and whether any of us can truly protect our sensitive information, VICE founder Shane Smith heads to Moscow to meet the man who started the conversation, Edward Snowden.

Starts with shocking (for some) commentary, but gets into some frank and earnest discussion with Chirlane McCray over a variety of societal issues.
Broadly sits down with Chirlane McCray in Gracie Mansion to talk media scrutiny, sexual fluidity, breaking down the stigma around mental illness, and having radical politics in one of the nation’s oldest houses of political power.
When you hear ‘First Lady’ you think Michelle Obama, of course. But McCray has some real things to say. This clip may well make you add her to your short list.
(Sexual fluidity. Okay, gotta add that to the vocab.)
Driving While Black in New Jersey (Documentary)
A new report from Seton Hall Law School Center for Policy & Research has found that in the majority-white municipality of Bloomfield, New Jersey, nearly 80 percent of traffic tickets are issued to African American and Latino drivers.
The report also found that most tickets were issued to non-resident minority drivers passing through town, suggesting a “de facto border patrol” policing policy is in effect.
The Bloomfield Police Department — which has begun collecting data on the race of drivers in traffic stops as of January 2016 — rejects the report’s findings.
VICE News reports on Seton Hall’s methodology and on the experience of minority drivers in Bloomfield.
Please note that in this video, Lakisha Finkelstein’s name was misspelled as Latisha Finkelstein.

Candyland: Canadian Cannabis (Documentary)
Weed soda, chronic cookies and chocolates. Ah yes, sounds like some mighty tasty medicines those Canadians are getting a good dose of up there. New Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bringing in a new cool, a breath of fresh… well hazy… air to the country’s marijuana legalization conversation. See VICE’s Damian Abraham get up there and get into the mix; taking his lumps and the ‘medicine’ to get the story on Canada’s weed dispensaries and candy shops.
Toronto is currently in a gray area in terms of its marijuana dispensary boom. Since Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was elected in 2015, promising to legalize weed, entrepreneurs have been illegally opening up shop all over the city. Although there’s no guarantee that Trudeau’s plan for legal marijuana will include storefront businesses, these operations are opening almost daily. While the shops specialize in selling weed for medical marijuana patients — more and more customers are coming through the doors of their local dispensary looking for marijuana edibles, which only a select number of federally regulated manufacturers are licensed to produce.

Action Bronson With Food and Fun From The Festival In Jamaica (Video)
Well, well, if it isn’t ol’ Bam Bam at the Nyam Jam Festival in Jamaica. And what’s cooking chef? Whatever it is… We’re sure to say, “F#ck, That’s Delicious!”
As Action Bronson’s presence in the “Food World” becomes more permanent, new and diverse opportunities are popping up for the self proclaimed Human Highlight Reel. This time it popped up in the most beautiful location possible, Goldeneye Resort in Oracabessa, Jamaica. The event was entitled Nyam Jam, and even before Action knew exactly what it was, he agreed to attend. As stated in the video, there was not a single bad bite of food, and if you love hot sauces and various pepper spreads, then you really couldn’t do much better. Mr. Bronson honed in on a calabasa slaw prepared by visiting Puerto Rican chef, Jose Enrique and a smoked chicken sandwich from Jamaican grill master, Gariel Ferguson. His experience at Nyam Jam inspired him so much, that upon his arrival back in New York, he immediately got cow foot stew and ate in the parking lot of Home Depot. One love.
History: A Celebration Of Confederate Pride… In Brazil? (Video)
Sure, okay. The South lost the Civil War (oops, War Of Northern Aggression…whatev). BUT, did you know that by the end of the divisive North American war, there was still legal and thriving slavery farther south; as in South America. Specifically, in Brazil; where then Alabama Senator William Norris led a migration of over 10,000 Confederate loyalists to settle. The town was called Americana, of all things; truly an idyllic place for those slave-seeking settlers who came looking to pick up where they left off not-so-long-ago in The States…to live where things were still the way they should be for the most part.
How do we know? VICE is telling us so (above). Amazing [is one word for it]! Talk about a Deeper South version of Ol’ Dixie. Wow. Check it out. It’s the third story in this episode of Daily VICE.
Today on Daily VICE we head out on the road with legendary punk band Dillinger Four, give advice on how to make your booze taste better, search for buried treasure with deep-sea robots, and uncover the enduring Confederate pride of one Brazilian town.
