The Pharcyde x DJ Spinna – “Labcabincalifornia” (20 Year Anniversary Mixtape)

The Pharcyde is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their iconic album “Labcabincalifornia” by releasing a commemorative mixtape. In a collaborative effort, the #BeamMeUpSpinna mixtape is mixed by NYC’s DJ Spinna and features “Nasty Habits,†an unreleased joint from the vault that features Ralph Tresvant & Bobby Brown. Imani & Bootie Brown also asked a group of producers to remix and add their own personal spin on a few of the “Labcabincalifornia” songs that you all know and love.

Fatlip and Slim Kid Tre (both formerly of the great Golden Era Group, The Pharcyde) put this “My Baby” joint out in Japan only (for now). But thanks to BamaLoveSoul, we got our grateful hands on it here in the U.S. headquarters for JayForce.com. Listen to it here. Kind of reminds you of the “Runnin'” beat, right? Bossa groove smooth.

Before he began focusing his interest into doing feature length films, Spike Jonze was a dope video music director for not only rock bands but he also was the mind behind the Pharcyde’s classic ‘Drop’ video. I knew the Pharcyde’s ‘Drop’ was a hot record the first time I heard it, but when the video actually dropped it became the tipping point to pushing the song & video into classic status. Check out the making of the video above & under the hood the finished product for which I’m sure you’ve already seen at one point or another….Classic
