About 18 years ago to this very day, March 19th, the Notorious B.I.G. rocked on stage live in London with Puff Daddy by his side. It was the launch party for radio personality Tim Westwood on London’s Radio 1 at the Palais that took place March 19th 1995. I love it when these never-seen-before videos are eventually digitized & later pop up on the web.

Busta Rhymes Speaks On Biggie Giving Away Free Copies Of His Debut Album ‘Ready To Die’ (Video)

Growing up in Philly one thing that was always understood as a gauge for determining the popularity of an artist or song was the number of people blasting it from their radios, out the the upstairs windows, or driving by in really nice car with a crazy soundsystem. Busta Rhymes explains in this story with VladTV about just how much The Notorious B.I.G. understood how important it was for people to be playing his music in the streets. Biggie may have taken a page from when Nas’s first album “Illmatic” dropped back in ’94.  Although Nas didn’t actively go out to make sure people in the streets had the album, it was already being bootlegged heavily & bumped in cars all over NY, NJ, & Philly weeks before it was released. Nas had the streets before the album even officially dropped & Biggie was no different with “Ready To Die”.

I love when rare footage gets unearthed & uploaded on the web of because it’s like instant gold for real hip hop heads. Check out this rare footage from behind the scenes of Biggie’s “Warning” video shoot that just popped up on the web yesterday we caught via Missinfo. One of the great things about his video is in the interview is when Biggie keeps things very honest about not being too hollywood by renting out the cribs & things & wanting to do better for his daughter. Later on in the video they also interview a young Sean “Puffy” Combs as well as Biggie’s former business partner Lance “Un” Rivera….

It’s hard to believe that March 9th will mark the 15 year anniversary since the death of one of hip hop’s greatest emcees ever. XXL will do a full tribute to & dedication to BIG which they say are over 40 never seen before photos & interviews with his kids, Lil Cease, Junior Mafia, Faith Evans, & more. This special tribute edition of XXL Magazine will officially drop February 7th. Ha! Sicker Than your average…

Back in the day on MTV Jon Stewart had an hour long talk show in the 90s similar to the David Lettermans, Jay Lenos, etc but the show didn’t last very long. Although Jon Stewart’s show didn’t last long on MTV, he’s doing very well in 2011 with The Daily Show. In this rare footage from Biggie’s performance on the show he performs the So So Def Remix to “Big Poppa” along with Lil Cease & Puffy backed by a live back. I love it when vintage clips like these surface.

So the records are warping right before me and it’s just like woooommp. And Big looking at me. We had this thing like, every time you make a mistake on stage during the show, you get fined $100. So during the show, Big heard the first womp, and he was like “A hundred dollars!†The record is crumbling up right before my eyes. Then it’s getting bad and Cease is like, “Two hundred dollars!†And then Big, he just stopped everything and was like, “Yo! What the fuck is going on?!†I’m looking and my records look like a piece of bacon back there. Big is tight! Biggie’s Son To Star In New Movie With Will Ferrell Called ‘Everything Must Go’ (Trailer)

C.J. Wallace, the son of the Notorious B.I.G., will make his second movie debut since his debut in the ‘Notorious’ film based on his father. The new movie starring Will Ferrell ‘Everything Must Go’ debuts in theaters on May 13th. Good to see the kid has a potentially incredible acting career ahead of him….

There’s no excuse for young cats in hip hop today to not be skilled at their craft. Biggie was battling emcees & nicer than what most would consider to be the best rap artists of this era. Keep in mind that Christopher Wallace was only 17 in this video. His challenger in the video eventually gave up & walked the f*ck off too. Crazy right? It’s Biggie’s early battle skills that sharpened him to be a talented artist & even crafting ill battle records like the one below…..
