Boogie’s “The Ladder” Documents The Rapper’s Ups And Downs (Video)
Right now the rapper Boogie is toggling between Long Beach and Compton, his mom’s house and his son’s school, obscurity and packed-out venues. “This is that moment a lot of people talk about — before they break,” says his producer, Keyel. “Like, ‘Yes! I remember that moment.’ The lights are shining in they eyes. Cause they miss this hunger.” Yours Truly has been with Boogie and his crew as his talent and all their dedication begin to conspire to lift him and his family into a safer, more forgiving way of life. The movement doesn’t come without its confusion and costs, but the growth is a beautiful thing to see.

Common – “The Ladder”
Played this new Common joint on my radio show last Saturday night. It’s from the ‘Catch The Throne’ mixtape that the people associated with the television series ‘Game Of Thrones’ put together. I personally haven’t watched the television show at all, but the quotes that Common used for “The Ladder” are very interesting in so many ways.
