This joint is just too fly to ignore…..Check out this preview from Portland Oregon artists Roane Namuh (aka DJ Roane) & singer Reva DeVito. Revo DeVito dropped a dope 5 song EP last year called “The Catnip Collective” which showcased her range in style from R&B, Jazz, Soul, & some indie pop vibes. I’ve had this “Should Have Known” track on repeat a few times after hearing this jawn for the first time. Reva DeVito also has a few songs for free download on her soundclound page.

There have been a few remixes I’ve heard to tracks off of Bilal’s ‘Airtight’s Revenge’ album that dropped almost a year ago. This one right here sounds just as dope as the original version to me yet totally different aurally speaking. Nevertheless it’s dope to have a good remix to breathe new life into Bilal’s project for those people who may have slept.

When this song first dropped back in March I was worried that such a good song was gonna get lost in the never ending shuffle of music that gets released in the course of a year. I used to have this “Lovely” song on repeat in my itunes playlists & it’s good to see they didn’t just let this song die without a good video to breath new life into it.

The Bay area producer who coined the term “Champagne Soul”, Trackademicks, links up with two North Carolina artists that we respect when it comes to new soul music in Phonte & Carlitta Durand. In addition to his recent work with the aforementioned Foreign Exchange frontman, Trackademicks has produced an assortment of great work from artists such as J. Davey, Kid Cudi, Teedra Moses, & too many others to name. Feels like it’s a matter of time before an artistic cat like him explodes with the recognition to match his musical talent. Trackademicks let loose this new joint “Halfway” as a teaser to his upcoming album The Champagne Room due later this year.

I’ve been struggling with how we label mixtapes & albums these days especially when running across quality projects like this Back For More album from DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Toronto songstress Ayah. This soulful R&B joint is so tight it feels unfair to label it a “mixtape” in anyway shape or form. It’s basically a free 13 track album that’s better than the majority of products in the marketplace for sale. Key songs I’ve been digging include “Back For More”, “Press Play”, “Notorious“, “One Life feat. Tona”, “Telephone“, & taking us to church with the gospel influenced sound of “Be Right“. I’ve been letting it play in my office several times & I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it. This is quality soul right here. Looking forward to seeing Ayah & the world famous DJ Jazzy Jeff tour just off this project alone….. Now this is just what I needed right now. Some dope jazzy soulful instrumental vibes with no emcee talking all over the track. This is just some great new cool out music right here from the Cali based DJ & producer Freddie Joachim (pronounced JO-AH-KIM). These tracks makes me feel like taking a flight to back to Brazil or something. Makes me want fly out to Costa Rica, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, or Puerto Rico & hit the ‘Waves’. I’m gonna need to go back & load Freddie’s entire instrumental catalog into my itunes. For now we’re just gonna have this baby on repeat. But don’t thank me….Thank Freddie on twitter.
