Dam-Funk Digs Into His Crates To Pull Off A ‘Boiler Room’ Party Mix (Video)
Funk, boogie, breaks… LPs and 45s… Dam-Funk is taking us on a near hour-and-a-half musical genre journey. With very little intro (by a cute little slimmie), we get right into the needle-dropping. What is pretty much an intimate listening party doesn’t stop until the end; only pausing for commentary or spontaneous crooning. Check out the video above. Nice!
Call It A Comeback: Music Has Gone Digital, But Many People Still Want Vinyl (Video)
In a world where everything is electronic, and media is going more and more digital, is it a surprise that there is a growing demand for music on vinyl records?
Well, yeah. Yeah it is. But growth could mean one record a week to two; so how big a growth trend are we talking (you ask)? Oh, just enough to keep the few remaining plants worldwide backed up to up to six months or so delivery turnaround on a vinyl order.
Interesting right? Watch the NY Times video clip on it above, and read the full write-up (linked below) for more.

Ninja Man & Specialist – “Dweet” (Video)
Great intro to tease the true meaning of this video with the new kid Specialist and the veteran Ninja Man. Dweet has good lyrics that try to answer the question about bridging the foundation with new talent in Jamaica. Big Up DownSound Records for always pushing the bar with promotions and marketing in the Caribbean and the US market.

R&B: BJ The Chicago Kid – “Honey”
BJ The Chicago Kid has some great music that I’ve been occasionally going back to over the last year like his “Good Good Love” collabo with rap artist Rapsody & my favorite “Good Luv’n” off of his “Pineapple Now-Laters” project. With that said it’s a good thing he’s not one of these artists that’s been constantly throwing out disposable material on the internet every day of the week. His label reps over at Motown are claiming that this new joint “Honey” produced by B!nk is his official first single. Right away when I peeped that producer & singer/songwriter combination I knew this joint was gonna sound good & I wasn’t disappointed. Nice little nods lyrically to Aaliyah’s hit record ‘Rock The Boat’ & the Bee Gee’s heavily sampled 1979 classic ‘Love You Inside Out’.
Vybz Kartel – ‘Go Go Wine’ (Video)
Newest release from Vybz Kartel who has recently been featured in Rolling Stones, The New York Timess and soon the cover of FADER. Below is a very vivid video for ‘Go Go Wine’, one of the tracks off the album ‘Kingston Story’. Big Ups to the professional dancers as they portray how some ladies have fun working the clubs & organize sexy dance routines. Head actress/dancer ‘Mystic’ has been on the entertainment scene for some time now as an upcoming artiste and model. Follow her Twitter Page and also her Youtube Channel here.
