This is part 2 of the video we posted a week ago showing Raekwon The Chef working in the studio with production trio The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League at Tree Sounds studios in Atlanta. In this particular segment Raekwon shares some stories & drops a few little known jewels about his classic album ‘Only Built For Cuban Linx’ aka ‘The Purple Tape’ including who was the first to rock the luxury Jesus pieces back in the day.

LOVE THIS! It’s like a dope documentary and song all in one post…’cause that’s what it is!
‘Raekwon spent two days with us, sharing knowledge, debating the top emcees in Hip-Hop and opened up about his thoughts on his legacy and the legacy of the Wu-Tang Clan. It was great to learn that Raekwon still had that drive to be great. As he says in the documentary, “I’m gonna stop, when I want to stop,†and he’s no where near stopping. During the Closed Session, Raekwon picked production from DJ Babu, someone he’d met once or twice, but never had a chance to work with. After going through several joints from Babu, Raekwon selected what sounded like an “off-tempo beat,†one he said reminded him of the something from the Rza. Raekwon Says The Wu-Tang Clan Suffered When Everyone Focused On Their Solo Careers (Video)

In a recent sitdown interview with VladTV, Raekwon spoke on how he felt the individual solo careers of Wu-Tang Clan members ultimately hurt the group in many ways. I can understand where Shallah Raekwon is coming from in terms of missing the close camaraderie of his group members , but trying to feed a 9 man group would prove to be difficult over time. So I’d have to respectfully disagree with Rae on that. The solo careers helped make the Wu-Tang Clan stronger in the presence of the fans in my opinion. Although things have waned a little for the group as a whole in more recent years, but I’d argue that their solo careers have kept the Wu-Tang Clan alive. Not sure about the recent allegations in the news of RZA renting out the Wu-Tang Clan logo out to foreign rap artists though…

Here is the first leak from one of my favorite emcee’s, Fresno California native Planet Asia, new album “Black Belt Theatre”. “Black Belt Theatre” will be a concept album themed around 70’s Blaxplotation and Kung Fu Flicks. Featured guests on the album include veterans like Raekwon, Talib Kweli, Paul Wall, Ras Kass, Camp Lo, and Strong Arm Steady, as well as newer emcee’s like Fashawn, Willie The Kid, Torae, and Nio Tha Gift. The album will be dropping February 28th.This is most definitely something that should be on your 2012 must cop list to have in heavy rotation.Here is the first leak “Golden State” produced by Dirtydiggs. Check after the jump for the tracklisting and credits.
