Robert Glasper Trio – “Sign O The Times” (Redux)

Very nice piece by Robert Glasper Trio, and proof positive that warm sentiment and artistic appreciation do not have to be bound by the trappings of ‘the business.’ Apparently, they were blocked from putting their keyed up version of “Sign O The Times” out when Prince was alive. But still, when respect (and admiration) is earned, respect is due. Pay up. Kudos to Glasper’s group – for the music and the framework and lesson in life #RIPPrince
This is a[n] arrangement I recorded in 2015 as part of my “Covered” album. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to put in on the album. Prince didn’t really like people recording his music lol. But I feel now is a good time to let everyone hear it! This is my favorite Prince joint “Sign O The Times.” The message is still relevant. Prince you are missed. Thank you for unapologetically being you.

The Rock Soul R&B Funk Pop music world was rocked to its mantle and core today as news of the passing of a legend spread: The Purple Rocker, Prince, suddenly left this earthly plane today. Details are still being revealed, and we certainly need the time to process the information and our feelings; but we have the gist. We know, sadly, the mourning can begin.
Only now can we truly know what it will be like to hear ‘that’ Prince song/album/collection, knowing that he is no longer with us. At least with Prince… He knew… he HAD to know… that he was and will forever be loved & admired by millions; and acclaimed at every strata of the industry – casual listener to sternest critic. Hit the jump to see sentiments to that effect expressed across the Interwebs honoring and bidding farewell to the 57-year-old Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame performer.
