While some people are celebrating the death of Moammar Gadhafi let’s take a closer look at who he really was & the politics behind his death. Nothing is ever black or white but varying shades of grey which is why it’s very important to look beyond your local news to get more information. Our colleague Rahiem Shabazz said it best over at his site…
“If you do a little research it may surprise you that the leader of the revolt in Libya spent his last 20 years in Langley, Virginia at the CIA Headquarters. Clearly, this is a CIA sponsored revolt with America giving arms and support to the rebels. Imagine if Russia or China would have gave weapons and monetary support to the Black Panthers in the 60′s to overthrow this government. That is what the U.S.A is doing in Libya.”

Russell Simmons Says He’s Paid Less Taxes Than His Employees (Video)

Warren Buffet was the first & one of the few billionaires to speak out about what’s going on in America with billionaires, millionaires, & corporations getting ridiculous tax breaks while the average American citizen is paying more in taxes year after year. Russell Simmons spoke out recently about these disparities that are serious affecting the country and later added in that he’s paid less taxes than all of his employees combined. He also lent his support to the protestors Occupying Wall Street.

Mos Def Demands BET Awards Show Tribute For Troy Davis (Video)

Mos Def & Talib Kweli were scheduled to perform here in Atlanta last Thursday night, but the show was cancelled following the recent execution of Troy Davis by the state of Georgia. As Black Star, Mos & Kweli opted to cancel their show in protest. I’m not mad & I applaud them for doing so. Troy Davis will officially be buried this Saturday & almost simultaneously the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards will be taking place in Atlanta. While at their Miami show Mos Def took the opportunity to send a message to the powers at BET to make sure they dedicated a segment to a man who was executed with no evidence of guilt. Should be interesting to see how many other artists will speak out if given the platform.

Clemency Denied For Troy Davis

With so much doubt surrounding the Troy Davis case it just doesn’t make sense how the state of Georgia is still willing to execute Troy Davis tomorrow. It really makes you question the justice system because Troy Davis could be anyone of any race, ethnicity, creed, & any other background.

I enjoy Stephen A Smith as a sports commentator for ESPN primarily because he appears to give genuinely honest opinions on various issues even if the truth hurts some people. I’ve always respected people who operate in that manner in general. In this particular interview Stephen A. Smith speaks a little more in-depth on politics & I find that we are similar in our views especially in being registered independents & not beholden to the title of Democrat or Republican. We both appeal to the “Common Sense” party.

Props to Yardie for this video…..everyone I know has been waiting for Lupe to speak out on his comments regarding President Obama & the wars talking place. I can see where Lupe may have been going with some of his comments, but it’s clearly evident that Fox News may have edited out some of Lupe’s comments to their own advantage. It would have been a better discussion had it been on-air live.
