Virginia producer Nottz is one of my favorite beatsmith’s crafting quality hip hop music. Whenever I see a song produced by him I usually listen to it right away because I just KNOW it’s going to be some authentic hot ish! His track record dictates that urgency. Surprisingly most of the general public may not be aware of just how deep his catalog is & I’m sort of surprised more in the media haven’t done more interviews with him in the past. The people over at DrumBroker, Scratch Magazine, & RawKoncept got together for this ‘Behind The Beats’ series with the focus on the grossly underrated music producer. Check it out above….

This joint is a straight up banger! Been playing it on my radio show ever since it dropped. He’s 1/2 of the 1978ers, 1/3 of the critically acclaimed group Diamond District, D.C. lyricist “yU” links up with arguably one of Virginia’s illest producer Nottz! Whenever I see Nottz’ name on something I know he’s going to be killin’ it with the boom-blappers! yU does the damn thing with the appropriate subject matter & A+ lyricism to match the track as well. This joint is straight MURDA! But in a good way. Be on the lookout for Mellow Music Group’s upcoming compilation that this song appears on called “Persona” due March 10th. Banger! R-A-W! Nottz on the beat AND on the track? Yessir. And does Uni-V-Sol deliver the gold, true belivers? Damn right. Some might say this Dynamic Duo could save real Hip-Hop. But for real, these two just proved Hip-Hop doesn’t need saving… It’s gonna be just fine because of tracks like this.
As the hook suggests, “Sushi” is raw cold bars! A song made by MCs for MCs. The song “Sushi” is my bid to be known as one of Hip-Hop’s Best MCs out today. Getting Nottz to produce the track just seemed like a natural thing to do, being he has been one of the top Hip-Hop producers for a long time. I watched an interview with Nottz saying he was an MC first and he started making beats to rap to, so I knew I really had to have him on the track. At the end of the day, “Sushi” is just about serving cats and being the illest ever. It’s really just the tip of the iceberg.
