“The Camels Of Arabia” Tells A Story Of Traditions, Pride, And Million Dollar Prizes (Documentary)

VICE continues to bring us insight by focusing on what’s important. Want to learn about a people, focus on what is important… to them. “The Camels of Arabia” are VERY important. Watch and learn…

Camels are the Clydesdales of Saudi Arabia, venerated for their good looks, grace, and speed. Even as the country rapidly modernizes, the animals remain a central part of Saudi culture, and a lucrative one—with prized camels selling for more than $1 million.

VICE trekked to Al-Dahna for the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival—the largest of its kind—where titans of business and politics in the Middle East flock each year for a display of the finest camels in Saudi Arabia. Hundreds of participants pit their camels head-to-head in a frenzied race and beauty contest for a chance to win roughly $57 million in prize money, and a chance to meet Saudi Arabia’s king and crown prince.

Europe Or Die: Documentary (Video)

Wowwww… and we’re thinking we have immigration issues in the U.S.? Check out this “Europe Or Die” docu-series VICE put together.

Since 2000, more than 27,000 migrants and refugees have died attempting the perilous journey to Europe. With an unprecedented number of people breaking through its heavily barricaded borders in 2014, the EU continues to fortify its frontiers.

VICE News presents Europe or Die, a new four-part series that documents the efforts of those risking their lives to reach Europe, and the forces tasked to keep them out.

In episode one of our series [above], VICE News correspondent Milène Larsson travels to the border between Morocco and Spain, where West Africans in their thousands storm the razor-wire-clad fences. Many are beaten back by border police or illegally returned.

Episodes 2, 3, and 4 follow; after the jump.

Libya: Life After Qaddafi (Video)

Life after the Libyan revolution has devolved into lawlessness and Islamic State–linked extremism...not a progressive or safe place to be. So, who went going right into the thick of post-Qaddafi Libya to bring us in-depth reporting and insight? Progressive, hard-hitting VICE NEWS.

Three years after the Libyan revolution and the subsequent downfall of its dictator Muammar Qaddafi, the country has descended further into chaos and insecurity. Rebel militias, radical Islamists, and former Qaddafi commander Khalifa Haftar are among the different groups vying for power and oil wealth, creating a vacuum in which violence and militancy reign supreme.

VICE News filmmaker Medyan Dairieh was there – in Libya in 2011 – to witness the revolution. Now, he goes back; to embed himself with the 17th February battalion, a rebel group fighting against Haftar’s forces and for Libya’s Future as a nation.

Denzel Washington Speaks On Turning Down Negative Movie Roles Early In His Film Career (Video)

Ran across this interview with Denzel Washington that my homie DVD out in L.A. put me onto. In this interview Denzel speaks on turning down a role in a movie he called “The Nigga They Couldn’t Kill”. I thought what Denzel said in this video was very powerful in terms of the ultimate decisions he made with the film & the advice he sought & was given from the legendary Sidney Poitier regarding his choices.
