Changing The Game: Lacrosse Comes To Harlem (Video)
Up top, it’s all about the blacktop. The lyric, “Basketball is my favorite sport,” not lacrosse… right? Well, these kids are into it AND it’s helping them level up to a better shot in life.
Basketball courts may still dominate north of 125th Street in New York City, but more kids than ever are taking up lacrosse as their sport of choice. We followed Javon to hear what his friends think about lacrosse and how he plans to make his mark on the game.

Watch. Might have to change that lyric.
Fold, Eat, Repeat: Experience New York A Slice At A Time (Video)
Nothing like a New York slice! And we got ’em (and the stories behind ’em) in this episode of The Pizza Show.
New York is the birthplace of many things, but for today’s purposes, we’re sticking to pizza. Frank starts with a quick history lesson from Scott Wiener, the owner of Scott’s Pizza Tours. Then, we hit the streets to see and taste the history for ourselves. The best thing about the city’s pizza scene is that it’s relatively young, so you can still eat slices from the ovens of the people that started it all and put New York pizza on the map.
We meet the granddaughters of the man that literally brought pizza over from Naples, and even see the ovens that he used. Then, we hit all the best slices from Greenwich Village to Soho, and finish in Brooklyn at Luigi’s Pizza, a place untouched by time.

‘Mission Impossible’ aka Jordan Kilganon in ‘White Men Can Jump’ (Video)
He’s not exactly ‘White Chocolate’ by looking at his hairstyle or swagger, but 6’1 basketball player Jordan Kilganon got busy up in New York City’s Rucker Park last week with a series of ill dunks. I believe the host of the event gave him the nickname ‘Mission Impossible’ loosely based on Jordan’s Tom Cruise inspired hair cut. Hahaaaaa! No matter what it’s easy to see ‘Mr. Mission Impossible’ has some hydraulics in his legs. Skill is skill son & Woody Harrelson’s character in the 1992 film ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ would be proud. Maybe he’ll come down & make an appearance in Atlanta this weekend with NBA stars like Dwight Howard for the ABEL (Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League)‘s upcoming 3-point & Slam Dunk contest this Sunday 8/8/14. The ABEL is Atlanta’s version of what goes down at the Rucker in New York City with games taking place Saturday at 6pm & contests on Sunday. Shouts to HoodMixtape & @AEBLHOOPS

The L.O.X. – “New York City” (Video)
Jadakiss, Styles P, & Sheek Louch’s new ode to the big apple is one of my personal favorite joints right now. The DJ Uneek produced joint now has a brand new video featuring the Yonkers hood heroes with clips of ‘New York City’ figures, events, & landmarks interpolated with beautiful shapely women to match the hard beats & dope lyrics. The L.O.X. continue to avoid that mainstream watered down rap & provides the real dudes like us that type of hip hop we tend to gravitate too. DEEEEEE-BLOCK!!!!!

The L.O.X. – “New York City”
Damn this joint is a banger right here as Jadakiss, Styles P, & Sheek Louch get busy with the lyrics over this joint dedicated to ‘New York City’. Nice little lyrical appetizer before the trio hits the road to go on tour for several dates. Of course they begin their tour March 26 no where else but ‘New York City.’ This joint is ill! DEEEE-BLOCK!!!!
The Real Wu-Tang: New York’s Shaolin Warrior Monk (Video)
(Video Courtesy: The Atlantic)
Shi Yan Ming has been in some action movies; but he is more colorful (and astonishing) in real life. At age five, he began training in the ancient Shaolin Temple in China’s Henan Province. He defected to the States in 1992, eventually founding USA Shaolin Temple in NYC, where he teaches philosophy and martial arts to kids and celebrities alike. What’s more, when interviewed for a documentary series (New Yorkers), the directors discovered a Wu Tang symbol in his studio… yeah, that Wu Tang symbol… as Yan Ming has RZA as one of his students. Check out the brief video expo on Yan Ming above.
Roc-A-Fella Reunion Concert Sells Out In New York City (Video)
It was a reunion for The Roc…sorta. Before a standing room only audience, [a piece of] The Roc was in the building – Gramercy Theater – for a Roc-A-Fella Reunion Concert. No Jay-Z? No Beanie Sigel? No Problem. The Young Gunz, Freeway, and Memphis Bleek repped the family well. Special guests on the concert bill included Mos Def, Peedi Crakk, and N.O.R.E. – with Young Guru and Just Blaze behind the turntables. More footage after the jump.

Man Goes ‘Subway Surfing’ Outside Of Speeding New York City Train (Video)
A man in New York City rode outside a speeding J train & it was captured on video by other passengers. Dude has some serious balls to do something like this! Apparently the video has caught the attention of NYC authorities who are trying to discourage other people from wildin’ out like this & risking their lives. I’ve seen wilder things on the train in NYC back in the day. These days the cars are cleaner & newer but the game hasn’t changed.
