2013 NBA Slam Dunk Contest (Video)
Here in Houston during the 2013 NBA All-Star festivities you can get a sense that people still look forward to the NBA’s annual Slam Dunk Contest. The vibe was one in which many people were hoping Lebron James decided to get into it, but that would not be the case as he & several other stars who are more than capable played the sidelines. The Toronto Raptors’ Terrence Ross took the crown this year, but the NBA needs to provide more of a REAL incentive for the league’s biggest stars to get involved in the long run for this event to thrive.

Common On ESPN’s First Take During NBA All-Star Weekend (Video)
I’m here in Houston, Texas for all of the NBA All-Star weekend activities & one of the primary things I didn’t want to miss was ESPN’s First Take doing a live taping on Friday morning in Houston. Needless to say, due to schedule conflicts, I didn’t make it in the building but it sure looked like fun as Common was the special guest on the show. In this special edition that aired live Common debated with Skip Bayless & Stephen A. Smith on everything from playing in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and those annoying arguments about who would win in a game of one-on-one between LeBron James or Michael Jordan.
Update: Behind-The-Scenes Footage Added Below

Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin & Chris Paul On Jimmy Kimmel Live (Video)
Jimmy Kimmel’s introduction as the “once sorry sports franchise” when describing the Los Angeles Clippers is hilarious. Oh how times have changed as Blake Griffin & Chris Paul have made the Los Angeles Clippers the number one NBA team in Los Angeles & gaining even more popularity around the country. The thing that’s infectious about this Los Angeles Clippers squad is their team chemistry & you can tell they genuinely like each other & play for each other unlike the Los Angeles Lakers. Check out part 2 of the interview after the jump below…

Basketball Great Jalen Rose Reveals His “Dark Alley Fab Five” (Video)
Former NBA great Jalen Rose runs down the five guys he’d want with him if and when sh!t got real in a dark alley. As a member of Michigan’s Fab Five – one of the college basketball squads NOBODY was messing with back in the day – Jalen is ‘uniquely qualified’ to pick a team of five that no one is messing with in a myriad of areas… even a dark alley! Hilarious! Another great ‘Jalen Rose Report’ for the Grantland Channel. Check it out.

Blake Griffin’s 1-Hand Dunk Off The Wall At Team USA Practice (Video)
Now that the official Team USA has been chosen for the 2012 Olympics in the guys have been getting together for scrimmages to get ready for the games in London. Following the Team USA scrimmage in Las Vegas, L.A. Clippers Forward & former NBA Dunk Contest Champion Blake Griffin put on quite a show for his peers as he did an ill 1-handed dunk after bouncing the ball off the back wall of the gym. Seemed like many of his Team USA peers enjoyed the dunk & have been enjoying the comrardery with each other except for Kobe Bryant who appears distant in many photos. Shout to hoopmixtape.com

Nike Basketball: ‘The Ring Maker’ (Video)
“LeBron and the ring maker go way back to the days of Akron afros and high school dunks. When one sliced through the paint, the other carved through wax. Together, their journey has proven that even those destined for greatness have to earn it.”
Just do it.

Cleveland Cavalier’s Kyrie Irving is the NBA’s Rookie Of The Year, but it appears he may have a future in acting as he was recently disguised as an old man & ‘Schooled’ some young players in a pick up basketball game in his native New Jersey. Kyrie wrote & directed the video that was sponsored by Pepsi Max while the players on the court may not have had any idea initially that it was him dressed up as ‘ol man “Uncle Drew” in the skit.

New Orleans NBA Bounty? L.A. Clippers’ Blake Griffin Gets Rocked By Hornet’s Jason Smith (Video)
Damn just when we thought only the New Orleans Saints were the only ones getting caught out there recently for bounties on opposing players. Apparently bounties are becoming a part of the norm down there for New Orleans pro teams beyond the NFL as the focus now shifts to the NBA with the Hornets Jason Smith clobberin’ L.A. Clippers Blake Griffin who appeared to be on his way up with a dunk….

Lebron James 360 Degree Dunk (Video)
I had this post set up a pending draft but I almost didn’t post this Lebron James highlight from the Miami Heat’s win over the Atlanta Hawks the other night. I’m a Lebron James supporter but my biggest issue with this dunk was that I thought “King James” made this joint look too damn easy. For many players close to his caliber it simply isn’t by any means but I would have preferred if he made this jam a little more nastier & angrier. (Shrugs shoulders) It’s still all good with me though. Under the hood Lebron kinda hints that Peyton Manning may possibly become a Miami Dolphin…..
