BREAKING NEWS: Cory Gunz Jailed

Bronx rapper Cory Gunz was jailed yesterday around 2pm for possesion of a loaded weapon. According to MTV, the police recieved a call to be on the “lookout” and saw Gunz with a group of people around him. When the police found him, Gunz had a loaded gun in his knapsack. MTV interviewed Cory’s dad, veteran rapper Peter Gunz who had very little details.

Back in the day on MTV Jon Stewart had an hour long talk show in the 90s similar to the David Lettermans, Jay Lenos, etc but the show didn’t last very long. Although Jon Stewart’s show didn’t last long on MTV, he’s doing very well in 2011 with The Daily Show. In this rare footage from Biggie’s performance on the show he performs the So So Def Remix to “Big Poppa” along with Lil Cease & Puffy backed by a live back. I love it when vintage clips like these surface.

The first Lost Tapes album by Nas still gets a considerable amount of rotation from me personally & occasionally a track or two I’d go back & play on the radio. Many fans like myself were anxiously awaiting the Lost Tapes 2 project, but unfortunately with all the drama up there at Def Jam, Nas makes it clear that will there will not be another one. That’s some very disappointing news to hear.

I’ve heard of Donny Goines primarily via the internet as I’ve seen his music on many hip hop blogs & he’s been broadening his fanbase beyond NY over the years. I had the opportunity to meet the brotha when I was introduced to him via my homegirl Soul Wallace a few weekends ago while he was down in the Atlanta. I found Donny Goines to be very cool, genuine, & down to earth cat. Not like most dudes you meet in this industry.
