Dear famous people: THIS is how you use your platform! Stand up for those who stood tall and ran toward the danger we tried to escape… for ours and our families’ & friends’ sake.

Jon Stewart was not the only one to get a standing ovation in a House hearing room today. 9/11 first responder Luis Alvarez got a standing ovation too, the day before his 69th chemotherapy treatment.

Grab a tissue. You’ll cry. And the tears (of pride, sorrow, righteous anger) will be heated.

Roc-A-Fella Records Co-Founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke Is Still Doing Big Business (Video)

Interesting! Now everyone knows Jigga, and many know Dame Dash. But what about the third side of the triangle. Those who know, know why this is extra good to see… “Biggs” still doing it big!

Without Kareem “Biggs” Burke, you may never have heard the name Jay-Z. That’s because Biggs was the quiet partner in the three-man team that founded Roc-A-Fella Records, which launched Jay-Z’s career. Today, Biggs is running his own show by building a portfolio of companies focused on lifestyle.

“A self-made millionaire, many times over…” That’s what’s up #Salute

Politics/Comedy: Seth Meyers Says, “Hey, Hillary Clinton, Stop Blaming Bernie Sanders” (Video)

Okay, I will admit to not watching a whole lot of Late Night With Seth Meyers. No reason. No hate. Always thought dude was funny. Plus, there’s the YouTube… where apparently the system knows I would like some stuff he says and suggests his clips to me.

Know what? YouTube is RIGHT! This “Hey!” clip is EPIC!

I did not even know Senator Clinton was throwing the shade at Senator Sanders in her book like that. And don’t worry, I got a clip with Bernie Sanders giving a rebuttal, with a pivot, to focus us on the REAL issues. No matter what, we need to keep our eyes on the prize(s) in #FeelTheBern mode after the jump.

But wait! Watch the hilariousness (and insight) above from Meyers.

(Full disclosure: I have not read Hillary Clinton’s book. Probably good though.)

Politics: Senate Chair Silences Elizabeth Warren And Tells Her, ‘Take A Seat’ (Video)

Senator Warren defends her decision to read Coretta Scott King’s letter on Jeff Sessions, saying that the facts may hurt but it’s her responsibility as a Senator to not gloss over them.

Disclaimer that is not really a disclaimer: Senator Jeff Sessions represents my home state, Alabama. He is President Trump’s appointee for U.S. Attorney General, the nation’s most powerful law enforcement office.

So, Sen. Sessions is up to be The USAG. To ascend to such a rank, you expect to be vetted, right? Things that were private may come up. Things that were public WILL come up. Those who oppose you will DEFINITELY bring it all up. Put on your big politician pants.

Now, I have not heard about anything from Senator Sessions or his people on this matter, but we have heard enough from the Republican leadership of the U.S. Senate. They LITERALLY told her to ‘take her seat’ when she read from a letter by Coretta Scott King (Martin Luther King, Jr.’s late widow) on Jeff Sessions when she opposed his efforts to prosecute Black civil rights advocates back in the day. She read a letter, and they tried to shut her the f*ck up!

Sorry Republicans, America does not work that way. Other Democrats, including Senator Bernie Sanders (FEEL the Bern STILL) stepped up and read the letter. That, plus Warren on Facebook Live… You cannot silence us all. You will not keep us all in the dark, especially if the press does its duty of keeping us (the electorate) informed! Watch discussion above, with more after the jump.

(Wait. Senator Mitch McConnell brought the opposition? An actual MITCH did this ‘mitch’ sh!t? Yep.)

Billionaire ‘Shark Tank’ Investor Mark Cuban Takes A Hard Look At President Trump’s First Days (Video)

I will admit: It will be hard for me to balance the passion and political savvy it takes to show love for my country. You have to be involved with something, passionately involved, to really show that you are in LOVE with it, right? Okay, then. I love this country. I show it with passion, warts and all. I did so at the ballot box last year, and things did not go my way. I felt the Bern and got burnt. Pulled for Hillary, but got Trumped.

Bitter, sure. Beaten, no. I’m an American. Even when we take an L we don’t take defeat. So, where are we now? In the first weeks of Donald Trump’s Presidency. Lots of folks are speaking up. Passionately. And we have to talk. It just can’t all be hate and futility. That is, in part, why I had to ‘re-title’ the YouTube video above. In it, Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban says WAY more than ‘Trump set the bar low.’ There is actually some thought mixed into the rant. Take a listen.

We will not agree on everything, on that we can agree. But here is something on which we must agree: I will listen to you, and you to me. Most of all, to you who did NOT vote…I am listening.

(If we are really honest, that might be what got us to this point in history. So, let’s listen. Starting with this fiery Cuban commentary.)

Activism: Producer/Director Quentin Tarantino Speaks Out On Police Brutality (Video)

Ultimately, what I feel is it’s a problem with White Supremacy in this country.
Quentin Tarantino

Whoa. Lean in, folks. Get this frank commentary on police brutality from a member of Hollywood’s elite. Someone who could expect live his entire life without actually experiencing it, but compelled to speak on it, check out what Quentin Tarantino has to say about civic authorities abuse of power and its roots. His comments so far overall have been fiery enough to get police & organizations across the country to call for a boycott of “Hateful Eight” (the forthcoming latest Tarantino movie).

Um, yeah. Good luck with that, officers…

Above: Gawker’s West Coast Editor Cord Jefferson with scathing commentary on this clip of an episode of All In With Chris Hayes. Cord spoke with host Hayes about his controversial essay, the roots of White violence, and his deep ties to the White community.
