Django Unchained (Movie Trailer)
Quentin Tarantino’s latest film “Django Unchained” stars Jamie Foxx as a slave-turned-bounter hunter who sets out to rescue his wife, played by Kerry Washington, from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Although a few big time actors have dropped out in the casting of the film like Will Smith, Kurt Russell, & Kevin Costner, there are still a number of stellar actors involved with the film including Samuel L. Jackson, The RZA of Wu-Tang Clan, Christopher Waltz, & former Miami Vice notable Don Johnson. The western revenge flick hits theaters in December…
The Gangster Squad (Movie Trailer)
“Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.” – GangsterSquadMovie.com
The Amazing Spider-Man (Trailer)
I enjoyed the previous Spider Man films starring Tobey Maguire that hit the big screen a few years back so when I initially heard that filmmakers were going to redo the series in theaters so soon I sort of groaned aloud thinking it’s probably gonna be wack. I’m having a change of heart watching these previews for “The Amazing Spider-Man” because it feels like the creators are simply revisiting the formula that was used to reboot DC Comic’s Batman films. The initial Batman films were very “comicbook-like” in nature while the most recent ones like “Batman Begins” & “The Dark Knight” have been darker & more adult in it’s approach. I believe that’s the plan for The Amazing Spider-Man when it hits theaters this summer….
The Dark Knight Rises (Trailer)
It’s gonna be a great summer of blockbuster movies with “The Dark Knight Rises” opening July 20th amongst a whole host of other highly anticipated superhero & action films we’re all looking forward to seeing. With this reportedly the last & final part in the Batman trilogy it’s expected that director Christopher Nolan will pull out all the stops with actor Christian Bale reprising his role as Bruce Wayne & the caped crusader.
Total Recall (Movie Trailer)
Here comes the remake to the popular 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger film “Total Recall” but for the 2012 reboot its starring Colin Farrell & may have a few plot changes…….

The Amazing Spider-Man (Trailer)
I was rather dismissive of this upcoming flick when I first saw the initial press photos that were released from the film, but this new official trailer for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man movie looks rather promising. It appears the creators have decided to delve into a more darker & less light-hearted version of the Spider-Man franchise in this particular reboot. I’d say the approach is similar to how the earlier Batman movies & sequels were more ‘popcorn fare’, but the later ones starring Christian Bale were darker & more gangsta. I’m getting the same feeling after watching this trailer that’s the plan for the Amazing Spider-Man. Not sure about all the added CGI effects, but we’ll see come July 3rd…
Phonte Reviews ‘Red Tails’ For his ‘Movie In A Minute’ Series (Video)
I went to see the movie “Red Tails” because I believe it’s a very important film not just for African Americans, but for all Americans in knowing more about the history & sacrifices made by the Tuskeegee Airmen who the film is largely based upon. Phonte continues his “Movie In A Minute” film review for 2012 with his thoughts on Red Tails that hit theaters last friday January 20th. I agree with Phonte’s commentary 100% in this clip. His thoughts are exactly what I was thinking after catching the movie over the weekend. I purposely didn’t say anything on twitter, because I didn’t want to influence anyone NOT to see the film. I expected more, but still understood the importance of the film & for people to go & support it.
Sundance Film Festival: Common Stars in New Film “LUV” (Video)
One of the more promising independent films being screened at the Sundance Film Festival from January 19-29th this year is a story about an ex-con played by Common who is “Uncle Vincent” to his nephew, played by Michael Rainey Jr., who had just become an orphan. Common takes his young nephew with him on a business trip that spirals him right back down the deadly path he’s been trying to avoid in the first place. The film also stars Danny Glover, Megan Good, Michael K. Williams, & Charles S. Dutton & the story is set in Baltimore. More clips from the film & movie poster under the hood below….

Wrath Of The Titans (Trailer)
I didn’t like the Clash Of The Titans remake too tough, but Hollywood is gonna try again with this “Wrath Of The Titans” sequel. Read more about it below…
“A decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus—the demigod son of Zeus—is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius. Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Read the rest of this entry »
Steven Spielberg Says He Doesn’t Even “Think” About Retiring (Video)
It always cracks me up when I hear some rap artists & performers saying they are going to retire, but I’ve always felt that if you love to do something there is no such thing as “retiring” from it. When I hear an artist say they are going to retire I automatically assume that they just didn’t love what they were doing in the first place & were only out to collect a check. Steven Spielberg is considered to be one of the greatest filmmakers of all-time & at 65 he says that doesn’t even creep into his mindframe at any point.
Prometheus (Movie Trailer)
Prometheus was originally set to be the prequel to the classic Alien film series, but the director decided to make the movie into an original story involving the same Alien creatures. Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race. The movie, anchored by talented actors Idris Elba & Charlize Theron, hits theaters Summer of 2012…
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance (Film Trailer)
Marvel returns with the sequel to the first Ghost Rider film starring Nicholas Cage. This time Marvel character Method Man Johnny Blaze returns in Ghost Rider: The Spirit Of Vengeance which is due to hit theaters February 17th. I wasn’t too impressed with the first Ghost Rider film, but this trailer for the sequel appears very promising. A February release date for the movie could mean that’s it’s not that good, but I hope Marvel filmmakers surprise us on this one. After watching the trailer I’m already surprised to see actor Idris Elba in this this flick which makes it his second Marvel feature film appearance since the movie Thor that dropped last summer. Who knows? Every Wu-Tang Clan fans knows Johnny Blaze is one of Method Man’s alter egos just like Ghostface Killah’s alter ego is Tony Starks. Maybe Marvel will have a special cameo from Method Man in this film just like Ghostface had in Iron Man sequel before the scene was deleted from the theatrical version.
Three Stooges 2012 (Trailer)
Like most of us, I grew up watching hours upon hours of Three Stooges reruns & whenever I do happen to catch classic episodes on late night cable television while flipping channels it’s not often that I change the channel right away after finding it. Hollywood is giving the Three Stooges a reboot of sorts with Larry, Moe, & Curly hitting theaters next year. The movie was shot entirely here in Atlanta as I’ve passed by their set a few times last summer when finally I asked a few production cats what they were working on. Hopefully the film is much funnier than what the trailer gives us although I did chuckle out loud at the clip of a Nun rising out of swimming pool like Bo Derek…
Life & Freaky Times of Uncle Luke (Film Trailer)
This short film that’s about to drop starring Miami’s unofficial Mayor Uncle Luke has been has been selected for the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Judging by the visual aspects of the film it looks very good & for it to be selected to run at Sundance it may have a very good storyline as well….
“Life and Freaky Times of Uncle Luke” is undeniably entertaining, whether you get the cultural references or not. It is a smart and intricately self-reflexive example of what cultural theorist Jim Collins has called ‘the perpetual circulation and recirculation of signs that form the fabric of postmodern cultural life.’ Mayer and her collaborator are quintessential bricoleurs. In ‘Uncle Luke,’ street-credible slang and classic booty beats reconstruct a landmark of film history. High and low, art and entertainment, fiction and reality become multiple facets of an intellectually-integrated work that specifically depends on cultural quotation. The parallels are both narrative and structural. Whereas ‘La Jetee’ is constructed from stills, referencing the psychological relationship between photography and memory, ‘Uncle Luke” draws from the nostalgia power of Mayer’s two dimensional boards.” – Art Papers

Battleship (Movie Trailer)
The big budget film based on the Hasbro game ‘Battleship’ is due in theaters in 2012 & even pop R&B singer Rihanna makes a cameo in the film. Visually this looks like it could be a good movie if the writing & acting falls into place like it should. Otherwise this Battleship will surely sink at the box office if they rely on special effects alone.
George Lucas “Red Tails” Film (Trailer)
George Lucas is widely known for his Star Wars series of films over the years, but one of the many projects he’s had in the works over the last 23 years has been the upcoming film “Red Tails” based on the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. I’m really looking forward to this film when it’s released in January of next year not only because of its historical significance, but also in how the Lucasfilm magic is employed in the special effects. The action in this trailer sequence is an indication of that at work. The movie stars Cuba Gooding Jr, Terrence Howard, Method Man, Ne-Yo, & Nate Parker and is directed by “Treme’s” Anthony Hemingway.
The Amazing Spiderman (Trailer)
So they are re-making the first Spiderman? Ummm yeah. Not going to see it. One of you go see it and tell me who much of your money you think was wasted.
