The Hurt Business (Documentary Trailer)
From the producers of Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11 and Generation Iron, THE HURT BUSINESS details the lives of various martial arts superstars, including Ronda Rousey and Jon Jones, competing in the fastest growing sport in the world and the struggles and triumphs that accompany all careers in cage fighting.
Besides featuring both legends, such as Georges St-Pierre, and up-and-comers in the sport the film covers the history of mixed martial arts fighting, from the coliseums of ancient Greece to modern day venues such as the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, all expertly narrated by Kevin Costner.
Themes of injury both mental and physical are explored and the question is raised; is it worth it to sacrifice one’s mind and body for sport?

MMA: The Underground Fighters Of Cuba (Video)
Fighting mixed martial arts in Cuba is not easy. Not just because MMA is demanding, or that life in Cuba is hard in many ways in general. It’s also hard because the fight is not just with the in-ring opponent; it’s with the government.
The Cuban government hasn’t legalized MMA for fear of losing its best boxers, so the fighters on coach Evelio Padron Ferrier’s team wrestle on concrete floors, use the ocean for endurance training, and practice techniques pulled from memory and bootlegged DVDs.
Nothing goes in or out of Cuba without facing obstacles. Freestyle fighting is no exception. Want to know more though? Follow VICE Fightland in to the den then.
The Rise of MMA in Jordan (Documentary)
“We went to Jordan’s capital city of Amman where Palestinian refugee and Brazilian jiu-jitsu master Samy Al-Jamal teaches Jordanians and Muslim seekers from around the world the secrets of mixed martial arts. Then we met Rana Qubbaj, the first female Arab woman to win an International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation tournament. With a smile perpetually on her face, Qubbaj works to overcome both her opponents and any number of familial, social, and cultural issues raised by a woman doing combat sports in the Middle East.”
Warrior (Official Movie Trailer)
Set in the tough as nails city of Philadelphia, this upcoming film ‘Warrior’ due in theaters this September looks like the Mixed Martial Arts version of the classic 1976 ‘Rocky’ flick starring Sylvester Stallone. Back then Sylvester Stallone was a little known actor & it became a classic & iconic film that defined a city & Sly Stallone’s career. Will ‘Warrior’ be a classic in this MMA era? I surely doubt that but its obvious that the growing appeal of MMA has Hollywood taking notice. If history should repeat itself then films that focused on the ‘sweet science’ of Boxing will continue, but they may be less focused on two fisted pugilists in favor of the MMA’s newfound popularity. This is only the beginning…
Herschel Walker Wins His 2nd MMA Fight By TKO (Video)
Herschel Walker used to be one of my favorite running backs ever in college football when he played for UGA. I also followed his pro career heavily when he played in the USFL for the New Jersey Generals before making his transition to the NFL when the USFL folded. As a Philly kid I attended more than a few of those NJ Generals games back then too. In fact when I played highschool football I studied Herschel’s training methods, games, & running style to further enhance my own. Who would have thought that years from now Herschel Walker would become something of the ultimate sports warrior athlete. Herschel is a pure athlete & freak of nature going from running track, to U.S. Olympic Bobsledding to Mixed Martial Arts. This guy is 48 years of age looking like he’s only 30 & pounding out guys half his age. I’m impressed & inspired! Gotta get my physical training & MMA training in. Damn!
