Mississippi Elected A Racist Governor & Slavery Was Recently Abolished (Video)

See this? You might say it looks ridiculous? But you know what is ridiculous, but true? The last state did not legally abolish slavery until 1995. Surprised? That last state was Mississippi (still surprised). Hold your jokes. It was 20 years ago…

A segment from Michael Moore’s TV Nation (1994) that focuses on Mississippi finally getting around to ratifying the 13th amendment to the US constitution – 130 years later. Correspondent Rusty Cundieff races down to Mississippi to try to buy some slaves before the law goes into effect.

But wait, wanna guess which state is having a runoff, now, in 2018 for a Senate seat between a Black Democrat and a White Republican… who PUBLICLY said she would attend a hanging… while she was campaigning???? Yeah, same state, M-I-crooked letter-W-T-F’n Mississippi!!

Girls Gone Viral: Black Beach Weekend 2017 (Biloxi, Mississippi, USA) [Video]

Wowzerrrrs ma’ams and sirs! By now you know, or ought to know, that I am from Alabama. Begs the question of me: WHERE did all them thick Alabama molasses asses in this vid come from, and WHY did they all flood Mississippi like this and not tell me???

Oh, Black Beach Weekend. They still do it like that? Apparently so. And I’ain’even know must be getting old *sigh*

Now, it might just be me, but I must warn y’all that there is a HIGH degree of ratchet roaming about. Not mad at that. Folks getting ratchet provide the best batches (drink, smoke, photos, videos, and all kinds of ASStonishing things). The music you’ll hear is the perfect soundtrack for all that hood hectic (fair warning). Young Black folks going WILD for sure. But I saw some hustlers handling biz, too. Every archetype from the trickster/gambler, to the curbside fry cook, to a weed edibles salesman. Then you see folks walking and flashing the fly liquors and folks riding in the big body vehicles with even bigger rims. All that kind of stuff I remember from back in the day for the most part.

But THEN you get new school star power. Sure, rumpshakers alone will get views. But how about folks who are already viral stars out there? Coming to the stage NOLA’s own PATTIWHACK and Dancing DanRue (around the 7 minute mark) getting live baaaaby with the ‘Peter Piper pick a pan… Yeeeeaaaah!’

Hahaaa! I’m not mad at y’all overall Biloxi (but some YouTube commenters are apparently… chill will’ya… sheezus). Do you! But at least send home some of them juicy ‘Bama yum-yums though.

Free State Of Jones (Trailer)

Should be really dope. I remember author Sally Jenkins’ appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart years ago… talking about “The State Of Jones” book (see that here). Great story. The trailer above teases a movie that seems like it will do the story justice.

Written and directed by four-time Oscar nominee Gary Ross (THE HUNGER GAMES, SEABISCUIT, PLEASANTVILLE), and starring Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey. FREE STATE OF JONES is an epic action-drama set during the Civil War, and tells the story of defiant Southern farmer, Newt Knight, and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy.

Banding together with other small farmers and local slaves, Knight launched an uprising that led Jones County, Mississippi to secede from the Confederacy, creating a Free State of Jones.

Knight continued his struggle into Reconstruction, distinguishing him as a compelling, if controversial, figure of defiance long beyond the War.

In Theaters June 24, 2016.

Neshoba: The Price of Freedom (Documentary Trailer)

“Neshoba: The Price of Freedom” tells the story of a Mississippi town still divided about the meaning of justice, 40 years after the murders of civil rights workers James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, an event dramatized in the Oscar-winning film, “Mississippi Burning.” Although Klansmen bragged about what they did in 1964, no one was held accountable until 2005, when the State indicted preacher Edgar Ray Killen, an 80-year-old notorious racist and mastermind of the murders. Through exclusive interviews with Killen, intimate interviews with the victims’ families, and candid interviews with Black and White Neshoba County citizens still struggling with their town’s violent past, the film explores whether the prosecution of one unrepentant Klansman constitutes justice and whether healing and reconciliation are possible without telling the unvarnished truth.
