Lowriders (Trailer)
You know how folks talk about a flick being a ‘coming of age’ movie? This feels more like a ‘coming of CULTURE’ joint. Getting screamed on for ignoring your roots (that elders speak of that you know little about and have never ‘seen’), cursed for creating art from your heart, the passion and defiance of youth… wow. You get it before you ‘get it,’ right? Truth is, I know very little about “Lowriders.” But if I look at this from where I stand, standing on what I know, there is way more than a little bit of Hip-Hop’s cultural underpinnings here.
“Lowriders†is set against the vibrant backdrop of East LA’s near-spiritual car culture and follows the story of Danny, a talented young street artist caught between the lowrider world inhabited by his old-school father and ex-con brother, and the adrenaline-fueled outlet that defines his self-expression.
Watch the trailer. Watch again. This trailer hit me. Gonna be a ‘sleeper recommendation’ of mine. When it hits, remember I told you!
