Man, whatchu know about a Kev Brown / Hassaan Mackey (DC / NY) combo punch?! Doing visuals for a combo release (“Dope” and “Hassaan Be Rappin”) in promotion of “That Grit” – the duo’s forthcoming LP.
Entirely produced by Kev Brown and featuring his signature bassline-driven and raw, but soulful sound, “That Grit” consists of an intro, eight full-length tracks and six instrumentals. Hassaan and Kev share mic duties on most of the songs, inviting close friends/frequent collaborators Kaimbr, Toine, yU, Kenn Starr, Eye-Q, Asheru (of Unspoken Heard) as well as the Younger Soul Brother Grap Luva along as feature guests, turning the record into a true family affair.

Came across a hot single from Maryland-native producer Kev Brown (1/2 of Daily Bread, with Detroit’s Apollo Brown) entitled “Makeba.” Kev’s “South Africa Dedication” EP is out now, with digital and vinyl versions available for purchase. The vinyl includes a jacket with an original illustration by JOE BUCK & detailed liner notes of Kev’s travels and how they inspired him to make this project. Median is a very dope MC from NC who after a hiatus is back with longtime friends Phonte and 9th Wonder to bring a new project to the people. The album drops August 16th. I was hoping to see more Foreign Exchange production credits but I’m sure The Soul Council will provide some dope beats along with folks like Kev Brown and S1, it should be a dope album which drops under the Foreign Exchange imprint.

Kev Brown hooks up with Behind The Beats TV to play some beats and Talk about the Al Green project with Kaimbr. Always find it interesting to see how he works and how fluid he is with his MPC. That’s something that doesn’t come easy. It shows the amount of time he has spend perfecting his craft on his tool of choice, a lesson for producers.

New visuals from the ‘Alexander Green Project’ collaborative album featuring Maryland’s Kaimbr & producer Kev Brown. The album dropped back in February but its dope to see cats still releasing videos to keep the projects alive. It’s a dope album that many real hip hop heads have yet to fully immerse themselves into. The whole musical landscape is entirely comprised of Al Green samples & ironically Kaimbr’s real name is Al Green. How about that for an ill concept to build on? Now keep they just gotta keep building on the ill visuals throughout the year….
