San E – “Do It For Fun” feat. UNIONWAY x DJ Juice (Live)
Korean rapper San E released his single “Do It For Fun” on Christmas Eve. Well, rappers worldwide tend to do that… release singles. But what we have to show you above is video from his live performance that works in an homage to Kendrick Lamar’s performance of “i” on Saturday Night Live.
Nailed it! See after the jump for comparison.
Kendrick Lamar – “God Is Gangsta” (Video)
K.Dot will NOT stop. Wrapping 2015 and kicking off 2016 all while pushing the artistic envelope; as well as his latest from “To Pimp A Butterfly.” Check out the visuals for “God Is Gangsta” (the title for this presentation of two singles – “U” and “For Sale”)… at least twice to get over that WTF effect this is sure to put on you.
Portrait of a tortured artist… yeah, that’s gonna be a strong understatement for this one. Just watch (and watch again).
Ty Dolla $ign – “LA” feat. Kendrick Lamar x Brandy x James Fauntleroy
Go ‘head and click play on this “LA” ’cause who knows when ‘they’ will snatch it back. Very worthy single from what should be a solid album entitled “Free TC” (out now, linked below).
Kendrick Lamar – “These Walls” (Video)
Recently I was watching Comedian Corey Holcomb‘s “5150 Show” and he mentioned that he was going to be in the upcoming “These Walls” video by Kendrick Lamar. Â If you know Corey then you know he is hilarious so I knew it was going to be something worth checking out. Â Well the video has now dropped and it didn’t disappoint. Â Kendrick has it titled correctly as a Black comedy because it is an 8 min piece. Â You know how Kendrick does he gives you humor and a message all tied in together.

Kendrick Lamar Has A Conversation With The Legendary Quincy Jones (Video)
A great song could make the worst singer a star.
And a bad song cannot be saved by the two best singers in the world.
– Quincy Jones
Truth. See? Stuff like that makes it easy to understand why Kendrick Lamar seemed overwhelmed (at first) at the prospect of a sit-down conversation with Quincy Jones. The two talk about where they are from, where their music came from, working with Michael Jackson back in the “Thriller” days and more.
Mos Def-initely: Kendrick Lamar Gets An Assist From Yasiin Bey For Live Performance Of “Alright” (Video)
Like the song said, we gone be Alright…we already Alright. However, turning up to it live with Kendrick Lamar made the Canadian crowd gathered more Alright. Rewind: Kendrick Lamar’s Breakout Performance in Atlanta 2011 (Video)
Before he was selling out The Tabernacle (historic concert venue in ATL) or playing Music Midtown, one of the largest festivals in Atlanta, a young Kendrick Lamar rocked the stage at the Masquerade back on April 2, 2011. Well before his albums “GKMC” and “To Pimp A Butterfly“, young “KDot” made noise & grew his fanbase off of his mixtapes.  I was in attendance for this show along with my radio co-host Jayforce to see him perform.  We were guests for Kendrick’s show in part because our program The Beatz & Lyrics Show was the first show playing Kendrick’s music in Atlanta on a regular basis & we also conducted his first Atlanta radio interview. So naturally we looked forward to finally seeing him in person.  He did not disappoint it’s crazy to look back now because Ali, his famed engineer, was his DJ that night and his hype man was Schoolboy Q who at the time was only known by a few die hard TDE fans. This particular show was Kendrick’s official breakout show in Atlanta when you knew he was going to be a star on a larger level. Kendrick made a lot of fans that night and it doesn’t surprise me at all the success he has gained.  So check out this vintage footage I shot of him rocking the crowd before the albums, before the baby twist dreads, & before the worldwide acclaim.

Kendrick Lamar – “For Free?” (Video)
Jayforce, Ojones, Twice Born The God, and I often talk about how artists should put out quality visuals to bring great records to life. Â Well Kendrick Lamar brings to life not just a track off his album but the fan favorite interlude “For Free” and the visuals do it justice. Â I think we all who have played “To Pimp A Butterfly” album rapped this interlude and yelled out “This D!*k aint free”. Â The video is directed by Joe Weil & The Little Homies (K-Dot always showing love to his people) with a beautiful lady playing the sassy mouth woman in the video. Â Kendrick plays a few characters himself, Uncle Sam and with some cgi in the final scene he plays everyone. Â I think you will enjoy and remember “This D!*k aint free”

Kendrick Lamar – “Super…” (Video)
Kendrick Lamar has been recognized as a generational icon by the people and the government (of the people). Done. But what if he got that next level iconic status… as a superhero??? Yooo! A ‘Hardbody’ superhero comic turned movie spun-off into a TV series with web extras and going to Kendrick-Con fan events and…
Hey, it could happen. Even the film crew said they wanted it. Ha! Watch and feel the concept – the description of the hero, his powers, his arch-villain and more.
Rewind: A Young ‘Kendrick Lamar’ Parties with ‘U-N-I’ & ‘Miguel’ in their “Lately” Clip (Video)
Recently I was watching one of my favorite videos “Lately” from the duo U-N-I from the West Coast. Â Well U-N-I (YO & Thurz) are no longer a group but Thurz has continued to make music as a solo artist. Â The video was refreshing it had a Cali vibe plenty of fly ladies in it and just a couple of brothers having a good time. Â The video came out in 2010 and singing the hook is a young Miguel who has went on to have big success with a new album titled “Wildheart” that will be released June 30th 2015. Â Something that stuck out to me this time when I was revisiting the video was a scene where the guys have some friends backstage partying and to my surprise I see a young baby faced Kendrick Lamar with a cameo. Â Of course he was putting out music back then and making a name on the West Coast but nothing like what he is doing now how he dominates the Hip Hop charts. Â Well enjoy this rewind video and remember you never know who might be in the background of a video will turn out to be a huge star!

Kendrick Lamar has delivered a quality album that has been a breath of fresh air in the Hip Hop game. Â In a music game where people follow trends, stay away from breaking new ground and do the same thing. Â Kendrick went in a different direction with his sophomore album. Â J Good from Str8outdaden.com decided that he wanted to put a panel together to discuss the album track by track. Â It is a combination of Artists, Journalists, Music lovers & more based in Atlanta, GA. Â Our very own Odell “ArtByOdell” will be on the panel representing for The Beatz & Lyrics Show. Kendrick Lamar – ‘King Kunta’ (Video)
One of my favorite hip hop albums out right now gets a brand new video for the new single ‘King Kunta.’ Definitely one of the key songs I’m feeling from Kendrick Lamar’s new album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ that’s out right now, but I need a video for ‘The Blacker The Berry’ instead of this short one I replay over & over again from my personal instagram page. The song ‘Complexion’ could use a dope visual too, but dammit the whole album may need one. It’s just that dope. It’s clear the homie Kendrick Lamar is winning on his own terms.
