Kanye West Gets Intimate With The Essence Music Festival Crowd (Video)

It seems like damn near all of Atlanta went to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. A number of people I saw on twitter talked about Kanye West’s performance. Some people were dissing it, but after I watched this video it was clear to me that Kanye was just amongst family. If you’re touring all over the world you can’t get intimate with fans like this who don’t really know you. I guess that’s why Kanye also explained why he also doesn’t talk to the press anymore. Can’t knock the brother for trying to do something different by playing with the crowd who knows good black music & probably knows him best. Plus the Essence Music Festival organizers probably couldn’t afford Kanye’s million dollar performance fees & he may have wanted to participate in some capacity for his core audience.

Producer D-Dot Explains His Feud with Kanye West

In an interview with XXL, former Bad Boy producer D-Dot did not hide his distaste for Kanye West, his former protege. Kanye claims he ghost produced for D-Dot at the beginning of his career. D-Dot says:
I didn’t do nothing to him. I didn’t rob him. All that ghost production shit he started and had the world makin’ ‘em think that he did everything.
Kanye says D-Dot took credit for tracks he did not produce. The two shared credits on tracks like Nas’ Poppa Was a Playa.
D-Dot said the two are respectful when they see each other but,
…all that shit he had people believing is actually disrespectful by believing that somebody like myself would actually take his music and rob him and put my name on it like he didn’t get credit.

Apparently someone jacked Kanye’s vocals & put their own beat behind the song. Kanye’s camp says he’s very upset about it, but the song still sounds good. I should have known something was up considering that Kanye has been moving away from soul samples on recent albums.

Kanye’s performance back in April during the 2011 Coachella festival will go down in history as one of his greatest performances ever. The crowd in Cali was rocking & Kanye gave a marathon performance full of energy as he delivered hit after hit after hit. Â I can only imagine what it was like to actually be there in the crowd. Kanye West Headlines The Lollapalooza Tour In Chile (Video)

This is just another example of how I keep telling people that Kanye West is a bigger artist internationally than Jay-Z. I’ve travelled around the world enough to see it first hand in multiple countries. In this video above Kanye headlines a recent show for Lollapalooza down in South America with Pusha T in tow. The crowd is singing Kanye’s songs word for word down there in Chile & they don’t even speak english as their primary language. Anyone who’s travelled the world enough will tell you that around the globe the two biggest hip hop artists are Kanye West & Eminem. Both 50 Cent & Snoop Dogg would also edge out Jay-Z in terms of Global popularity. Jay-Z opened up for U2 in Australia a few months back & couldn’t even get the stadium a quarter full during his set. When this song leaked on the web back in January with only Kanye & John Legend it became of my favorites that I played over & over again. I was wondering why Kanye didn’t include ‘Eyes Closed’ on his most recent MBDTF album because I felt like it would have been a waste of a great song. Well it seems like Snoop caught wind of the joint & holla’d at Kanye about it or it could have been Snoop’s song to begin with for his Doggumentary album due on March 29th. This joint is a hit in my opinion….I can see it with my eyes closed.

DJ Premier’s Beat Rejected By Kanye West For His MBDTF Album

Prior to Kanye West releasing My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy it was reported that DJ Premier was supposed to appear on the album for a song called “My Mama’s Boyfriend”. Needless to say Kanye didn’t use the track that Primo submitted probably because it didn’t fit the overall sound of Ye’s album. Kanye changed the direction of the album & even the title a few times. Nevertheless I’m sure a gang of talented emcees can do this Primo track justice. Shout out to DJ Premier’s Blog

Orchestral Remix: Kanye West – All Of The Lights (Video)

The Portland Cello Project took the time to cover one of Kanye West’s songs from his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album. I find this to be fairly interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more orchestral groups around the country covering more songs from the MBDTF album specifically because Kanye’s album uses a wealth of of orchestral arrangements. By covering popular music with heavy orchestral arrangements, it’s a great tool to get more young people involved.
