Affion Crockett is a FOOL y’all! Don’t know if he’s serious, but Affion announces a forthcoming “Watch the Clone” album at the YouTube page for this “WTF” comedy video. Don’t sleep on he talent though: He spoofed Jay-Z AND Lil Wayne in the same clip. Oh…Catch Donnell Rawlings running about four or five cracks on Weezy at the beginning, too. Man-dex!!!! I can’t stop laughing! Haahahaaaaaaaaa!
Nas Intended To ‘Hang’ Jay-Z At The 2002 Summer Jam Concert (Video)
During the height of the battle between Nas & Jay-Z, there were rumors that Nas had planned to hang a likeness of Jay-Z during his performance of the 2002 Summer Jam performance at Giants stadium. It was said that the executives at NY’s Hot 97 stopped it from happening & an upset Nasir Jones bowed out of the show. It’s interesting that all this video is coming out now in 2012, but when pressed about it by reporters Nas refused to comment. Check out the video above & Nas’s response when questioned by MTV below……

Some rare footage was released via Fuse TV of Biggie performing during Ralph McDaniel’s Video Music Box party back in 1996 in NYC. The Notorious one performed his Junior Mafia hit ‘Get Money’ while Jay-Z served as Biggie’s hypman on stage for the show.

Scarface stopped by MTV’s RapFix told about how years ago he was open to doing an album with Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel. French Presidential Candidate Uses ‘N*ggaz In Paris’ As Campaign Song (Video)
I’m still shaking my head that Kanye & Jay Z’s “N*ggaz In Paris” song title couldn’t have been more creative with the ‘Paris’ theme. Now a French presidential candidate is using it in his campaign. The explicit version at that. Now you have to pause to wonder are they celebrating/laughing with us or at us….

Questlove Says Jay Z Loves The New Jay Electronica Album, But Cannot Find The Right Single (Audio)
We’ve all been waiting for Jay Electronica’s album on Roc Nation to drop for so long that many people were beginning to believe it was a myth that it was even completed. In an recent interview Questlove, de facto leader of the legendary Roots crew, says Jay-Z told him that Jay Elect’s new album is his favorite album this year, but he’s having difficulty finding a single. Questlove also delves into some other details including Jay-Z needing to have his lyrics printed out for him before shows. Check the clip & links to the full interview with Questlove below….

SXSW: Jay Z AMEX Sync Show (Video)
I wasn’t impressed with Jay-Z’s performance but neither was I surprised at the rather lukewarm response from the audience. Jay-Z forgot the lyrics to two of his songs in this video & the audience evidently is not that familiar with his catalog. As a guy who’s traveled the world I’ve been saying for a while that Jay-Z is not as popular a rap artist by himself around the world as a performing artist compared to someone like Kanye, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, or Eminem. Here in the states some fans will argue with you, but apparently the same thing can be seen here too at SXSW amongst the so-called fans that aren’t strongly “urban”. (Shrugs) Nice hat.
Black Democrat Gets Clowned By A White Republican In Florida Over An Incorrect Jay-Z Quote (Video)
It’s no secret that I’m not the biggest Jay-Z fan although I respect his talent. I think my biggest issues maybe with so-called Jay-Z fans. I’m talking about people who probably never listened to his first album “Reasonable Doubt” but will debate with you about how the album was the hottest thing on the streets when it came out. Yeah right. Those same fans will quote a Jay-Z lyric to you, but don’t realize the line was borrowed from Biggie or some other lesser known rap artist. (See I’m A Writer Not A Biter for example). Most Jay-Z fans like the congressman in this video are caught up in media hype & into all the drama of Beyonce & Jay-Z’s reported business dealings instead of the art. In the above video a Black Democrat in the Florida house tries to use Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” song to make a point in his argument, but he’s gets clowned by a white republican who corrects his inaccuracies with the lyrics he used. Hilarious & sad at the same time. It figures a Republican would get Jay-Z lyrics correct because after all…. Jay IS a “Black Republican” right?….***Cue music***
MTV Names Their Hottest Rappers In The Game For 2012 (Video)
I labeled this as “MTV’s Hottest Emcees Rappers In The Game” because not everyone on this list is an “emcee”….some are just rappers or singers. Either way it is what it is…Rap lists these days don’t hold much weight, but if you’re a real hip hop head like myself then you’ll chuckle out loud at some of things said by people on this panel. Ah well…What’d you expect from MTV & the current state of radio & rap music these days…Overall it’s just a reflection of how bad “mainstream” rap music is. There’s plenty of great music out there, but most of it ISN’T on the radio unfortunately. One thing I was surprised about was seeing the homie @BosNaud was on this panel. I haven’t looked at all the vids as of yet so I hope he represented well. Check out links to the discussion on the other candidates on “MTV’s 2012 Hottest Rappers On The Radio Payola” “MTV’s 2012 Hottest Rappers In The Game” list below….
Comedy: SNL’s Jay-Z, Beyonce, & ‘Baby Blu Ivy’ (Video)
Last night on Saturday Night Live the crew poked a little fun at Jay-Z, Beyonce, & their newborn daughter Blu Ivy. With all the media hype surrounding the birth of the hip hop couple’s kid this skit follows what it would be like if Nicki Minaj, Bon Iver (played by Justin Timberlake), Prince, Taylor Swift, & other guests stop by with well wishes. On a side note, Justin Timberlake needs to do more comedy movies or television. Dude has such a great comedic sense & is a pretty good actor…
Classic Clips: Lamont “Big L” Coleman (May 30, 1974 – February 15, 1999)
This is one of my favorite joints from the late Children of the Corn and D.I.T.C emcee Big L, “Put it On” produced by the ever hype Deejay Kid Capri. It is a bit disheartening that his murder still remains unsolved , as he was destined for mega success as rumors of a Rock-A-Fella signing loomed. In my opinion had Big L singed with “The Roc” Jay Z might not have been what he is now, with L at the time being the more polished and lyrically gifted emcee(check any of the old freestyle with the 2, Jigga is fighting to keep up with Big L most of the time). With all passings of our legends lets focus more on uplifting and appreciating our greats while they are still alive…..

Papoose Says Nas ‘Annihilated’ Jay-Z in Their Lyrical Battle (Video)
In a recent interview, Papoose talks about the recent battle with Common Vs. Drake & also speaks on one of the greatest battles to have ever occured in hip hop between Nas & Jay-Z. I have to agree with Pap that Nas did indeed ‘Ether’ Jay-Z in that battle.

Comedy: N*ggas On The Train (Video)
Check out this guy on a New York City subway train getting all overzealous about Kanye & Jay-Z’s “N*ggaz In Paris” joint from their Watch The Throne album. He’s doing his own rendition that I’d like to call just another “Nigga On The Train”. This maybe funny to most of you, but on the real this is how I view most of you over the top Jay-Z fans.
Georgetown University Course On Jay-Z Draws Support & Criticism (Video)
Personally I find a course on Jay-Z at Georgetown University is a bit “REACHING” because most of his material over the years didn’t push many boundaries socially so I’m not surprised by the criticism the course is getting. Especially considering that it’s mandatory that the students purchase Jay-Z’s book to take the class & Michael Eric Dyson & the school itself most likely receive grants from the publishers for even having the course & carrying the book at the student book store. Any current or former college student will tell you that the biggest hustle with many of the courses you take is in the books you are required to purchase that often times you can’t sell back to the school once the course is over. It’s “Big business” being pushed as academia. A truly smart individual doesn’t need to take a course on Jay-Z to understand ‘the hustle’, but it won’t be me or most smart people I know getting “hustled” into taking this class.
