J Dilla – “Motor City” feat. Q-Tip x Busta Rhymes (J Rocc Blend #2)
Powerful posthumous heat from the late great J Dilla with some assist on the production by J Rocc and lyrical content delivered by Bussa Buss and Leader Quest Q-Tip. Check out this previously unreleased “Motor City” blend from the album (linked below).
The late, great J Dilla is widely regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time. Since his death in 2006, Dilla’s mother Maureen “Ma Dukes†Yancey has worked tirelessly to further her son’s legacy, and her latest effort is the new project Motor City. Inspired by Dilla’s beloved hometown, Motor City is a collection of rare and unreleased Jay Dee instrumentals, hand-selected and sequenced by Ma Dukes. Conceived as a “letter†to her son, Motor City is packaged in a limited-edition mailing envelope, complete with a handwritten message from Ma Dukes to J Dilla inside. This 19-track collection will be available at physical and digital outlets worldwide on April 21st, 2017.

Slum Village – “Love Is” feat. Bilal x Illa J (Video)
Once again, the SV rocked this beat by Jay Dee righteously! And don’t let the visuals touring the city distract y’all. Bilal backing ’em up with the silky croons and overdubs concealing lots of slick talk. This is off that “Yes” album (linked below).
(Head so good it ought to be illegal… What?! Where is she?)
Kaytranada x Mark Morrison – “Return Of The Mack” (Jay Dee Blend)
Ohhhh! Once again… “Returrrrn Of The Maaack” by Mark Morrision gets its collar popped by Kaytranada, who mixed the 1990s jam with a beat from the Motor City track master Jay Dee aka J Dilla. Dip and slide to the vibe put down by this new musical creation.

Tall Black Guy – “Whenever It Comes To You” (Jay Dee Electric Piano Funk)
The J Dilla contest entry that could’ve been. Ah well. Tall Black Guy serves up his flip of a track anyway – “Whenever It Comes To You†(Jay Dee Electric Piano Funk). Reminiscent of the Golden Era. Enjoy thoroughly.
Howdy Folks, I was a little late to the party with the Jay Dee Contest. But, I seen alot of the homies flip it up so, I decided to give it a try. Hope you all enjoy!!

Slum Village – “Yes Yes”
J Dilla would have been 40 years old today February 7th. As people around the world celebrate the greatness of the Detroit producer & emcee James Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla, his brother Illa J & the remaining members of Slum Village (T3 & Young RJ), let loose this joint appropriately titled ‘Yes Yes’. ‘Yes Yes’ is fitting as fans are happy to know Slum Village has a new album coming featuring more J Dilla production from the period when he was going by the name Jay Dee. Black Milk & Young RJ are also expected to provide some musical soundscapes as well. Rest in Peace J Dilla Dawg!
Phife Dawg – “Dear Dilla” (Produced By DJ Rasta Root)
When Phife Dawg & DJ Rasta Root let me hear this song ‘Dear Dilla’ honoring the late great Detroit emcee & producer J Dilla a short time back I immediately knew it was something special. The DJ Rasta Root produced track provides the perfect soundscape for such an emotional, heartfelt, & sonically superb song.
#dearDilla is an open letter to Phife’s long time friend and producer, the legendary J Dilla (James Dewitt Yancey), who passed away on 2006 from complications of a rare blood disorder.
Just wait until y’all see the video directed by Chicago filmmaker Konee Rok that’s about to drop soon. Trust me it’s a very dope clip featuring cameos from Dwele, Uncle Herm, T3, & more. If you live in Atlanta the #dearDilla video will premier February 6th at the Midtown Art Cinema from 7:30pm-9:30pm with a Q&A hosted my yours truly & it will also premier at Dilla Day in Detroit on February 7th at the Fillmore. This is also the first official single to Phife Dawg’s upcoming album ‘MUTTYmorPHosis’ due later this year.

“In honor of J. Dilla being one of the most influential producers of all time, I decided to lay a verse to one of my favorite tracks off of J. Dilla’s Donuts. The Jay Dee Pause Remix Suite (Mixtape)
From the good folks over at BamaLoveSoul:
“Jay Dee’s Welcome 2 Detroit was released almost ten years ago to this day! BBE says the album was an inspired work that reflected Dilla’s varied influences which ranged from The Carpenters to Sergio Mendes. Now, a decade later, BamaLoveSoul releases The Pause Remix Suite: a compilation of remixes that honor Jay Dee’s influence on Hip Hop and the musical world at large. We like to think of The Remix Suite in the words of Frank (of Frank N Dank) as, “Brand New Sh!t With a Blend!†Just like Dilla’s influences when crafting Welcome 2 Detroit, this compilation presents many different perspectives to the originally gritty Pause for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!”
