Wale – “The Girls On Drugs” (Video)

Wale’s latest single ‘Girls On Drugs’, off of his latest project ‘The Album About Nothing’, is a joint that I’ve been digging lately. A part of it has to do with the creative use of the sampled hook on Janet Jackson’s hit record ‘Go Deep’ from her 1997 album “Velvet Rope” . Another great aspect of Wale’s song is the cautionary tale about women who get too caught up into the party lifestyle. Overall the song just sounds good & the video has a great message. The legend of Michael Jackson lives, in all facets, through things like this interview; animated for and presented by PBS’ Blank On Blank series. And part of his legend, is the well-known quirkiness inherent in in-person interaction with the King Of Pop. Even before “Thriller,” MJJ had his rules… like don’t stare or look him directly in the eyes. The rule/directive for this interview: Michael only talks to his sister Janet. So the interviewer, John Pidgeon, had to ask his questions to then 13-year old Janet Jackson who then relayed them to Michael.

In an interview that’s scheduled to air on Dateline NBC at 7pm Sunday, Janet Jackson discusses her years of dealing with self-inflicted abuse because she thought she wasn’t attractive enough. Crazy right? Sheehz!
