J.Cole has been having a very good week I see. After being snubbed for MTV’s Hottest Emcees of 2012, he dropped an very dope song called “Grew Up Fast” that we posted earlier to rave reviews & he got his shine on the basketball court during the NBA’s Celebrity Allstar Game down in Orlando tonight. Check out J. Cole’s Alley-Oop Dunk from comedian Kevin Hart, who was the game’s MVP even after being ejected earlier. Also check out J. Cole blocking rapper & actor Common’s attempt at a layup underneath. Common hasn’t been fairing too well in these celebrity NBA games. If I remember correctly Justin Beiber once crossed Common over like Allen Iverson did Michael Jordan back in the day. Hahaaa!

I thought J. Cole’s album Cole World: The Sideline Story could have been better but it was not bad at all. When looking at the big picture I’m still excited & happy for the young brotha from “FayetteNam” for selling over 250,000 copies in the first week. It shows that the tide is changing back towards more quality artists & subject matter in the mainstream. Especially for a newcomer like this North Carolina emcee & producer who proved that true fans matter the most despite commercial radio outlets around the country like HOT 97 in New York who gave him little to no radio airplay.

Good timing for Elle Varner, who will be dropping her upcoming album “Perfectly Imperfect” later this year, because the video will give her some additional shine while J. Cole’s album Cole World: The Sideline Story just surpassed over 250,000 copies sold.

Cole’s upcoming album ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’ drops on September 27th & for weeks he had been waiting on Jay-Z to hop on one of his songs before the album was to be turned in for mastering. What J.Cole says Jay-Z did at the last minute for the ‘Mr. Nice Watch’ collaborative track didn’t surprise me at all. Check out the J. One of the key things I’ve enjoyed about doing my radio shows, cable television, & running a blog is discovering new music & artists. I genuinely get excited to share information about talented artists & music. Elle Varner is one of those artists that I’ve just learned about, but I can tell she has some serious talent in that voice of hers.  This new single release, “Only Wanna Give It You” featuring J.Cole has the type of R&B/Hip Hop flavor I genuinely enjoy. Looking forward to hearing more from this talented singer/songwriter & all around musician who’s signed to Clive Davis’s label J. Records.

J. Cole – ‘Nothing Like It’

J. Cole did this thing with this freestyle joint right here. Maybe I’m getting old or something, but I still believe for the type of artist J. Cole is he curses way more than is necessary in his music. He’s not M.O.P., but his body count with the cursing is pretty high. I think he needs to stay passionate with his verses but I can tell he throws in the curses in an overt attempt to delivering an memorable line or two. Rakim didn’t curse alot but you still felt his verses & he was still gangsta nonetheless. If Ra cursed too often we may not have considered him one of the greatest ever because the message would have gotten lost in the profanity. Be passionate but don’t underdo it. Settle in but don’t force it. Maybe I’m wrong, but if I am please excuse my old man rant. In any case J. Cole did his thing with this joint right here though.
