Blu Talks About Common, The Roots, Andre 3000, & Suge Knight (Video)
Shout to Davey D & his Hardknock TV team for this interview with Blu as he chronicles his career direction based on his influences in hip hop. From a cinematic standpoint I thought it was a dope idea to interview Blu on a LA rooftop with the sky in the background with a ‘Blu’ hue. Nice attention to detail in addition to a very good interview….
Lil Kim Believes The Government Had Something To Do With Biggie’s Death (Audio)
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was determined that Lil Kim was correct in her beliefs. You can always look at the past as a point of reference for a clearer road map of insight. Every day it seems like government documents continue to be declassified from the 60s & 70s alone. History has shown us how the government tried to dismantle the black panther party movements & other civil rights & politically based movements of previous eras. Entertainers were some of the primary people being watched back in the day even before the 1940s & 50s McCarthyism era on past J. Edgar Hoover’s era with his cross dressing ass.

Interview: DJ Pocket Chops It Up With Moonsatellite Of Culture King (Video)
DJ Pocket is one of the best kept secrets in Atlanta & also a good friend. The Baltimore raised & Atlanta based resident has been doing his thing working with MF Doom & most recently Count Bass D on a myriad of projects as of late but he’s been producing & opening up his studio for many artists in the hip hop scene for years. I’ve even recorded a few of my earlier mixtapes at his studio here in Atlanta. Sometimes I’d roll over to the studio just to hang out & talk sh*t. Showing that there’s always six degrees of separation in anything, my homie Moonsatellite who represents Culture King, had been a fixture Atlanta’s hip hop scene before moving to Los Angeles. Moonsatellite recently linked up with DJ Pocket for a great interview for you all go to get to know more about the man. Check it out!
De La Soul To Release The ‘Artificial Intelligence III’ Album This Year (Video)
Maseo of De La Soul recently chopped it up in an interview about their new album Artificial Intelligence III in which the trio plans to drop this year. In this interview Maseo reminds us all why we love De La Soul so much & why they are such an iconic group in music period. They are artists & musicians who do what they feel first & foremost. Maseo makes some very valid points about New York hip hop too in which I wholeheartedly agree. On a side note…. Maseo’s laugh is wickedly scary. Reminds me of a scene from a classic horror flick.

He also gives a tour of the new facilities in the interview as well. Check it out.
Open Discussion: Blog Rappers Vs. Street Rappers
This is part of a series that Sirius XM’s Dee Vasquez is doing as an open discussion about the balance artists need to have between the blogs & being visible in the streets to get notoriety. Depending on what type of artist you are & where you would like to go with your career as a recording artist I believe hitting the streets as well as the blogs are equally as important in this new media age. Nowadays people do so much online from paying their bills, social networking, & just about anything else you can imagine. The days of rapping & handing out CDs on a corner aren’t as effective as reaching a worldwide audience via the net. So my point is why wouldn’t blogs, radio, & the street all be important in this new era. Every avenue can help an artist win on its own these days.

While going through hundreds of emails from artists with music & videos I just ran across this video I received in my inbox from Corey Davis the director of the new film ‘J Is For Junkie’. CyHi Da Prynce Speaks On The XXL Magazine 2011 Freshmen Cover (Video)
If the behind the scenes politics are right (you know there’s alot of music industry politics that go on), I believe that CyHi Da Prynce is very capable of becoming a very big artist in the hip hop game. The talent is there but all the rest is management, positioning, & great timing.
ATL Indie Hip Hop: Top 10 Now & Then (Video)
Here’s part two of the roundtable discussion the homie Greesy assembled for his Top 5 Dead Or Alive Show. This special edition was based on Atlanta’s Top 10 Independent Hip Hop artists from now & then in the last 15 years. Although the first part of the of the show dealt with more of the classic artists who have been in Atlanta for a while, this particular segment is centered around the newer artists making their mark in Atlanta. In case you missed part 1 I’ve included it under the hood…….
Comedy: James Earl Jones Recites Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby Baby’ Lyrics (Video)
Legendary actor James Earl Jones is equally lauded for his voice as much as his acting. I mean hell….He’s also the voice of CNN. He was a guest on the Gayle King show on Oprah’s OWN Network when they asked him to recite some Justin Bieber lyrics. This is hilarious! Hahaaa! I wouldn’t want to recite those lyrics either…..
