MTV Shines Light On Pittsburgh’s Growing Hip Hop Scene (Video)
Get More: Music News
With the recent success of Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller, Pittsburgh’s hip hop scene is continuing to flourish after years of being considered the younger brother to Philadelphia in terms of all things hip hop. But while both cities have never had any significant or competitive rivalries in the state of ‘Pistolvania’, they’ve often have had a distinct difference traditionally in terms of sound & influences. Pittsburgh’s sound can vary from a midwest vibe to a super lyrical east coast vibe in which it’s eastern neighbor Philly is typically known for. With the recent signing of rap artist Boaz to Rostrum records, MTV does a feature on Pittsburgh’s next generation of rising stars & the scene they grew up out of.

This is the Reggae Remix of Young Wild & Free, made originally by Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg and Bruno Mars. The Bad Boys of Reggae, Inner Circle, I-Octane and Bizerk do a great job with the cover and even thou the video is simple, it still shows quality and the lighter side of all three artists.

The Narcicyst – “Fly Over Egypt” (Video)
I am not real familiar with The Narcicyst and his music but I ran across this joint and I was instantly intrigued. There is always more room in Hip Hop for dope jams with a greater message, which The Narcicyst tries to present on this track produced by Bei-Ru.The video is dope also, as it captures the many sides of Egypt and its people. I have never been to the Motherland but videos like these gives me the motivation to get there…

Are Blogs Destroying Hip Hop? (Article)
First, I would like to thank Jay Force for being a staple in a never ending effort to support quality Hip Hop, and get it to the masses. With that said, this article being my thoughts of how blogs are f$%king up Hip Hop, this article does not represent the opinions of Jay Force or any Jay Force related entity, but solely of myself……Isreali
Indeed the internet has revolutionized the world in the last 10 years that has forever changed the way we consume information. We need more and we need it faster, and in return our attention span has dwindled to seconds. Social networks and blogs has limited our capacity to focus, to hitting the refresh button every 2 or 3 mins for the newest post or latest tweet. Blogs, Fb, and Twitter is where we go to find the latest news (social, music, entertainment, political etc) in a matter of seconds. The beauty is in being able to on a global level connect people , build relationships, create networks that otherwise would never be avaible to create(or been much harder). However quality journalism and accurate research has been replaced by people with coneections, alot of freinds, and an opinion that their readers find enetraining (in which they cant wait to post a comment on) . Waiting to hit that refresh button to read the latest gossip, or the latest article from the random person who is in search of attention, thrives off attention, or in search of making a name for themselves. Adrift Da Belle x JahPrince Interview on ‘Fire Fridays’
We talk about Adrift being a songwriter & performer and finally bring her into studio to cover the release of her EP, ‘DNA’ aka Drugs N Adrift. She explains how music to her is a full-time job and thru this project, balancing the producer/artist relationships in this industry. In my book she’s a REAL MC, and for that had to ask about some of the punch-lines and love that she’s bout her business. #Salute

REKS – “Kill Em” (Video)
Dope video from REKS off his “Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme” LP

, produced by Statik Selektah. Shows that you dont have to spend alot of money on a video and still put out something creative and visually appealing. If I see another video with a emcee rapping in front of graffiti walls with a dj in the back ground, I am going to jump off a cliff.
New Joint: Co-Op – ‘Rap Money’ (Video)
Check out this pretty dope joint from husband(The Rapture) and wife(Money Stax) duo Co-Op. Once you get over the fact that this is not a corny husband/wife gimmick or publicity stunt, you realize that this is actually a pretty dope idea, being that both are serious emcee’s and they both are pretty vicious on the mic. Reppin Dallas and New Jersey respectively, be on the look out for more from this talented group.
