Nas speaks on Heavy D’s involvement with his latest reggae influenced single “The Don” that’s having hip hop heads abuzz right now. Phife Dawg Performs In London & Pays Tribute To Heavy D (Video)
My homies Phife Dawg, Snax, & DJ Rasta Root were out on tour in Europe & during Phife’s sold out show in the UK he mentioned a few things that raised quite a few eyebrows from fans who were in attendance that tweeted about the show. Phife mentions that when he was sick & in the hospital back in 1992 there were only two rap artists at the time that called him to see if he was well & one of those was Heavy D. Phife also mentions that Jive records failed to clear the Lou Reed sample on one of A Tribe Called Quest’s biggest hits “Can I Kick It” so therefore they have never seen any money from the song over the years.

Heavy D’s Last Interview In London (Video)
Heavy D’s last radio interview was conducted while he was out in the UK promoting his new album two weeks ago. In the interview Heavy D talks to Tim Westwood on Radio 1Xtra about the birth of hip hop, the tragic passing of Troy, performing at the BET awards, working with Jay-Z, producing, touring the UK, Teddy Riley & Pete Rock. Legendary Rap Artist & Actor “Heavy D” Dies At The Age Of 44
The news of Heavy D’s passing spread like wildfire through the internet & the media when TMZ first broke the story…
TMZ:
Rap legend Heavy D — one of the most influential rappers of the ’90s — died earlier today … TMZ has learned.
Heavy D — real name Dwight Arrington Myers — was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today … and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 PM. He was 44 years old.
We’ve learned a 911 call was placed from Heavy’s Beverly Hills home around 11:25 AM to report an unconscious male on the walkway .
When help arrived, we’re told Heavy D was conscious and speaking — and was transported to a nearby hospital.
He died a short time later.
Cops are investigating the death — and so far, there are no obvious signs of foul play.
Heavy D had several massive hits — including “Now That We Found Love.” He also wrote and performed the theme song for “In Living Color” … and appeared as an actor in the movie “Life.”
