Man, whatchu know about a Kev Brown / Hassaan Mackey (DC / NY) combo punch?! Doing visuals for a combo release (“Dope” and “Hassaan Be Rappin”) in promotion of “That Grit” – the duo’s forthcoming LP.
Entirely produced by Kev Brown and featuring his signature bassline-driven and raw, but soulful sound, “That Grit” consists of an intro, eight full-length tracks and six instrumentals. Hassaan and Kev share mic duties on most of the songs, inviting close friends/frequent collaborators Kaimbr, Toine, yU, Kenn Starr, Eye-Q, Asheru (of Unspoken Heard) as well as the Younger Soul Brother Grap Luva along as feature guests, turning the record into a true family affair.

Nice Herbie Hancock inspired & almost off beat/on beat joint produced by Rochester New York producer & emcee Hassaan Mackey. When he’s not out on tour with Maryland producer Kev Brown or crafting joints with his Detroit partner Apollo Brown as 1/2 of Daily Bread, he’s creating joints like these off of a brand new MPC he says he recently purchased. To make this jawn complete he reached out to San Diego’s own Ishe’ via twitter to bless the track vocally. It’s dope how social media can afford artists to collaborate with each other significantly easier…
