Skyfall (Movie Trailer)

I was underwhelmed by the recently released ‘Dark Knight Rises’ film that hit theaters, but I’m hoping actor Daniel Craig starring as James Bond in the upcoming ‘Skyfall’ film doesn’t disappoint me. I think Daniel Craig makes a great ‘James Bond’ & I’ve enjoyed the last couple of films where he took on the starring role. Expecting nothing less than great action, superb visual effects, & an intelligent storyline with this ‘Skyfall’ flick.

Oz: The Great and Powerful (Trailer)

Disney is pulling back the curtain on the origins of L. Frank Baum’s classic masterpiece “The Wizard of Oz,” with the story of “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” After directing three Spider-Man films, Sam Raimi has turned his attention to this fantastical story of a small-town magician (played by James Franco) who is hurled by a tornado into the Land of Oz where he has a chance to be shaped into the great and powerful wizard he always aspired to be. Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, and indie golden boy Zach Braff also star. The film is currently slated for a global release in spring of 2013. - Zach Pina, Hypebeast.com

Django Unchained (Movie Trailer)

Quentin Tarantino’s latest film “Django Unchained” stars Jamie Foxx as a slave-turned-bounter hunter who sets out to rescue his wife, played by Kerry Washington, from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Although a few big time actors have dropped out in the casting of the film like Will Smith, Kurt Russell, & Kevin Costner, there are still a number of stellar actors involved with the film including Samuel L. Jackson, The RZA of Wu-Tang Clan, Christopher Waltz, & former Miami Vice notable Don Johnson. The western revenge flick hits theaters in December…
The Amazing Spider-Man (Trailer)

I enjoyed the previous Spider Man films starring Tobey Maguire that hit the big screen a few years back so when I initially heard that filmmakers were going to redo the series in theaters so soon I sort of groaned aloud thinking it’s probably gonna be wack. I’m having a change of heart watching these previews for “The Amazing Spider-Man” because it feels like the creators are simply revisiting the formula that was used to reboot DC Comic’s Batman films. The initial Batman films were very “comicbook-like” in nature while the most recent ones like “Batman Begins” & “The Dark Knight” have been darker & more adult in it’s approach. I believe that’s the plan for The Amazing Spider-Man when it hits theaters this summer….

The Re:Generation Music Project is a documentary funded by Hyundai in association with the Grammys as they follow a team of selected DJs, Producers, & artists such as DJ Premier, Skrillex, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights & Mark Ronson as they is all pair up with musical genres that are unfamiliar to them and are assigned the mission of creating something original & unique for the project. We had no idea the documentary was already online but thanks to Soulbounce on the heads up. The documentary is available for free viewing on Hulu as their “Documentary of the Month” for March & April so you best take advantage & sit back for an hour & watch it now.

Sundance Film Festival: Common Stars in New Film “LUV” (Video)

One of the more promising independent films being screened at the Sundance Film Festival from January 19-29th this year is a story about an ex-con played by Common who is “Uncle Vincent” to his nephew, played by Michael Rainey Jr., who had just become an orphan. Common takes his young nephew with him on a business trip that spirals him right back down the deadly path he’s been trying to avoid in the first place. The film also stars Danny Glover, Megan Good, Michael K. Williams, & Charles S. Dutton & the story is set in Baltimore. More clips from the film & movie poster under the hood below….

Life & Freaky Times of Uncle Luke (Film Trailer)

This short film that’s about to drop starring Miami’s unofficial Mayor Uncle Luke has been has been selected for the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Judging by the visual aspects of the film it looks very good & for it to be selected to run at Sundance it may have a very good storyline as well….
“Life and Freaky Times of Uncle Luke” is undeniably entertaining, whether you get the cultural references or not. It is a smart and intricately self-reflexive example of what cultural theorist Jim Collins has called ‘the perpetual circulation and recirculation of signs that form the fabric of postmodern cultural life.’ Mayer and her collaborator are quintessential bricoleurs. In ‘Uncle Luke,’ street-credible slang and classic booty beats reconstruct a landmark of film history. High and low, art and entertainment, fiction and reality become multiple facets of an intellectually-integrated work that specifically depends on cultural quotation. Directed by Transformers star Shia Lebeouf, “Maniac” is a short film starring the actor Scott Mescudi of the HBO series “How To Make It In America.” Of course he’s better known to the world as the Kid Cudi the recording artist. The short film’s music is centered around the work of Kid Cudi & his producer Dot Da Genius. The movie is about a film crew that documents two serial killers as they go about their business. We warn you that this is not for people who have weak stomachs.

While I was sitting in the theater over the weekend waiting for Green Lantern to begin, the preview for the upcoming film ‘Moneyball’ came on. Due in theaters September 23rd, the film revolves around the struggling Oakland A’s Major league baseball franchise & one man’s attempt to change the franchise’s fortunes around. After watching the trailer I was excited to see this film starring Brad Pitt as it’s based on a true story story & book written by Michael Lewis.

I knew the Pharcyde’s ‘Drop’ was a hot record the first time I heard it, but when the video actually dropped it became the tipping point to pushing the song & video into classic status.
