Fokis. Engineer, emcee, producer. Rapping with the likes of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz… sitting in production with Ty Fyffe, Focus…, Jake One and more. Yeah, dude has got the pedigree. Okay, so Fokis runs indie label Loyalty Digital Corp. (credited for executive producing projects for Skyzoo, Antman Wonder, Torae and Sadat X). As an engineer, he has recorded and mixed for Slaughterhouse, Fat Joe, N.O.R.E, Pharoahe Monch, Bun B, Kool G Rap, and others. But check out this suggestively-titled jawn “Produced By Dr. Dre†for his upcoming project “Underground With Commercial Appeal†(due out February 3, 2015).

Oh… close! Closer than me (waaaay closer). In the Businessweek clip above, they cover the numbers behind the deal. Whether the parties settle with a cash deal, or by stock (which allows them to avoid heavy taxation), Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine (who had a bigger share of the company and more personal assets to start) should clear a billion. Dr. Dre stands to scoop $600 million out of the pie.
That’s a damn big scoop. Just not a billion. But it’s okay. Staying in the same circles, Dre could very well be playing in the Billionaire Boys Club one day. Salute to the Diggy Diggy Doc!

N.W.A. Nominated For The 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

It’s so crazy how two of my favorite groups of all-time have both been nominated for the 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. We saw the announcement from DJ Lord & Flavor Flav about their group Public Enemy’s nomination, but upon closer inspection we also see the guys who put Compton on the map get nominations. Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, & DJ Yella as N.W.A. get the nods as well & the timing couldn’t be anymore perfect as there is already a biographical film that’s currently in production directed by F. Gary Gray to tell their story. Dope!

Forbes magazine recently did their Top 5 Highest-Paid Celebrities list based on their fame & income. Former N.W.A. producer Dr. Dre came in at number 5 behind Oprah Winfrey, Jerry Bruckheimer, Michael Bay, & Steven Spielberg. Not bad company to be in at if you like counting other people’s money. It’s clear that Dr. Dre wasn’t just a figurehead who only owned .0000015 percent of the ‘Beats By Dre’ headphones company with Jimmy Iovine. He was truly an owner unlike most rappers or artist in the entertainment world who would like you to believe they own much more in their entrepreneurial endeavors. Props To HHNM
