And while that might be his ‘problem’ to lots of folks, it seems alright to him.

Hidden Colors 4 : “The Culture of Harming Black People” (Extended Trailer & Movie Premier Info)

The fourth installment of the award winning Documentary series Hidden Colors will be on the big screens May 26th & 27th in select cities. Tariq Nasheed the director/producer of Hidden Colors is not holding back with this one. The film takes an in depth look at White Supremacy and the culture of harming black people. He enlists numerous scholars like Jennifer Tosch, Dr Boyce Watkins, and Anthony Browder to name a few. Not just intellectual scholars but also Hip Hop artists like Killer Mike & David Banner. I watched Hidden Colors 3 at a theater here in Atlanta and it will be screening in Atlanta again on May 26th & 27th. The film will also screen in New York, Birmingham AL, Baltimore, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Dallas and many more cities. Click Here for Full list of cities and times. Dr. Boyce Watkins & Elementary Genocide Screening (ATL Event)

The People’s Scholar Dr. Boyce Watkins is coming to Atlanta February 13, 2016. He will be speaking at Georgia State University the event will be from 4p-8p. There will also be a screening of Elementary Genocide 2 by filmmaker Rahiem Shabazz who is also hosting the event. If you are in Atlanta or nearby area make sure you come out and check out this event. Plenty of great information will be shared informative and timely for the days we are in along with it being Black History Month!

What Dame is on: Yes, associate the name Dash with cash, but NOT with ‘coonery’… and NOT with Republicans! Well, say what you want about Damon Dash; but he is going to say what he is going to say and mean it. Family or not.
Above he goes straight ahead on the hot topic of the minute – the craziness his cousin Stacey is spitting on Fox News (especially against BET) for the entertainment of White people. But the balance and majority of the interview is about his business and movie moves on deck. Good watch!

Sandra Bland: How Did An Improper Turn Signal Lead to Her Death? (Video)

Recently the country has had their eyes on Texas yet again for another encounter of cops and the treatment of Black Women. Â A couple months back there was the incident of cops in McKinney TX violently attacking young black children and a young sista was slammed to the ground and sat on by a Race Soldier I mean officer of the law. Â Now in Waller County, TX the sad story of Sandra Bland who was found dead in her jail cell after she was arrested for a turn signal violation. Â The local cops have claimed it is suicide but the Bland family disagrees and thinks their is foul play. Â A lot of people across the country thought the same especially since Sandra Bland was an outgoing 28 year old who just landed her dream job at her alma mater Prairie View A&M University. Â That doesn’t strike me as someone who wants to kill themselves over a traffic stop. Â Dr Boyce Watkins uses his platform to speak on this topic and invites Yvette Carnell founder of ( BreakingBrown.com ) & Benjamin Dixon ( TheBenjaminDixonShow.com ) to join him and go deeper into this incident and what it represents. Â The sad reality is this traffic stop led to this woman’s death and the officer who is paid to protect and serve did his part to ignite confrontation. The “Periscope” App is a Social Media Game Changer (Video)

Technology moves at a fast pace and the social media world moves even faster. Remember when My Space was the place to be? Then it was Facebook and of course now Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat, Kik and many more exist. So you are probably thinking so what is the big deal about this new mobile app? Well put it to you like this when the creators were putting the technology together Twitter got word of it and purchased it for millions before they even released it to the public. Periscope allows you to have a live broadcast straight from your mobile phone with the ability for people to comment live and to interact. In the video Dr Boyce Watkins is joined by Michelle Martin of Urban Youth Racing School and she speaks on how people of color should take advantage and really get ahead of the curve using this new technology. Could you imagine not just shooting video of Police Brutality but having a live stream with people interacting? Also if there is a social event happening that the local news doesn’t want to cover no need for them you can broadcast it live in real time on your mobile phone! Like my brother Jayforce likes to say “This Changes Everything” LOL.

There has been a lot of talk recently about music streaming and artists getting what they deserve regarding royalties. Â One of the main discussions has been over Jay-Z and his new company Tidal that is marketed as a platform created by the artists for the artists. Â There has been some push back from people stating that Tidal is a corporation out here to get rich just like all of the others. Â When it comes to Jay-Z recently he has implied that people have no problem supporting the Bill Gates and Steve Jobs but not supporting him because he is black. Â Dr. Boyce Watkins speaks on this and questions some of the things Jay-Z speaks on while opening up the discussion on true Black independence.

Recently Dr. Boyce Watkins sat down with Vlad TV and he discussed Racism in America. More importantly he discussed how Bill O’Reilly caters to a certain audience in America. Dr. Watkins sheds light on the fact that a lot of what O’Reilly spews on the airwaves is what many Americans of the dominant culture feel but are afraid to say. People like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly make millions off of racist rhetoric and divisive lanuguage. Well I will let you listen to the Doc break it down much more eloquently.

“Resurrecting Black Wall Street” (Trailer)

The term “Black Wall Street” has been thrown around by a lot of rappers from time to time. The reality is the term Black Wall Street speaks to the amazing times of Black Prosperity in Tulsa Oklahoma in the 1920’s. The Greenwood neighborhood located in Tulsa had a number of Black doctors, dentists, bankers, and business owners. They spent money amongst themselves had their own bus companies and were doing better than most of the whites in Tulsa. It all came to a crashing bloody ending when false accusations were made regarding a white woman saying she was attacked by black men from the neighborhood. This led to the first time the US government bombed it’s own people yes you read that correctly the Feds dropped a bomb and destroyed the neighborhood. If you didn’t know the GAP Band is from Tulsa, OK one of their famous songs is “You dropped the Bomb on me” and you thought that was just talking about the ladies.

Above: Dr. Boyce Watkins speaking his piece on America; in particular, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly and the things he gets away with saying on his show “The O’Reilly Factor.” Channeling fight promoter Don King, Dr. Watkins declares that “only in America” could O’Reilly and his “O’Reilly Factor” show have the run they have had; catering to his ‘special’ fanbase (whose enjoyment comes often at the expense of others). Dr. Watkins even went so far to say that Bill O’Reilly is “destructive to the country.”

Damon Dash Shares How He fights Custody Battle Without Lawyer (Video)

In interviews Damon Dash has been making the headlines for the topics he discusses. Â Some agree some don’t but most of the Blogs and Gossip sites love to use his words to stir traffic not really investigating his true talking points. Â Well Dr. Boyce Watkins has reached out to Dame Dash allowing him to discuss issues on his platform. Â This is not a pair of people you would expect to partner up but I am happy to see it. Â In this video Damon Dash explains how he is fighting for custody of his daughters without a lawyer. Â He gives some detailed facts on what fathers can and must do to see their children in custody battles. Â He is upfront with the fact that the courts will frustrate you but you must have patience and remember that your child is the ultimate prize. Â I am not saying that Damon Dash is who you should pattern your legal battles after but if you took the time to watch interviews with him yelling at someone how about watching a video where he is imploring men to fight to see their children legally!

There has been a lot of talk about Black ownership and financial freedom sparked from the Damon Dash interview he did on The Breakfast Club. Â It set off a firestorm on social media some people being inspired and some comical moments with the hashtag #TweetLikeDameDash. Â With all of that said Dame brought up some good topics and Dr Boyce Watkins helped to bring some perspective to the conversation. Â He has a PhD in finance and owns his own business Financial Juneteenth. Â Dr Boyce discussed obstacles like Racism & White Supremacy that play a part in blacks becoming financially independent. Â He does not make excuses though and agrees with Dame Dash in regards to Black Men & Women having the be their own Boss mindset. Â Overall it is a great discussion between Angela Yee, Envy, Charlagmagne & Dr Boyce Watkins a breath of fresh air rather than mindless gossip talk.
