Kanye West & Lil Wayne Mark Their Debut as DJs on NYE 2012 (Video)

Kanye West was the featured DJ at a party in Las Vegas for New Years Eve 2012. Many of the reviews from people we’ve peeped on twitter have been mixed for the new DJ now known as “Yeezy World Peace.” Meanwhile in Miami, Lil Wayne kicked off his part-time career as a DJ on New Years Eve as well. I know plenty of professional DJs out there are pissed that more & more celebrities are stepping into their lane, but I feel like more DJs should just market & promote themselves more. Technology changes the whole DJ game but marketing & promoting yourself never will. Check out more video below…

Jah Prince ‘Cooyah Island Vibes’ Part Two (Mixtape)

This is part two of the promo series for Cooyah Clothing (established since 1987), a Jamaican company now doing business in Florida. After the success of part one, Jah Prince was asked to mix another for the African and European markets with tracks that the company loves. These CDs get sent out with purchase orders but JayForce.com got the linkz!! Highlighted artists include, Cocoa Tea, Further Notice, a fun combination from Jeffrey Wilson & Chino McGregor and a sweet song from J Boog.

We catch up with Doug E. Fresh’s sons Dayquan “Slim†& Solomon “Trips†Davis as they show scene from their video shoot with Cory Gunz. This is not their first collab with Gunz but, The Pain was produced by DJ Tedsmooth and his remixes gets spins on the ‘Fire Fridays‘ radio show so nice to finally see some visuals. Shouts to they peepz who wanted to get cameos in the video until they found out they were gonna be tied up, laying on the roof of a building in the winter!

While checking out my homegirl Daisha Hunter’s new hosting gig over at Future Sounds TV in Japan, I ran across this interview with DJ J. Period. Producer & remixer J. Period made his first trip to Japan recently & spoke about the creative mixtapes he put together for Nas, Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Q-Tip, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, & more. Whenever he’s not crafting mixtapes, J. Period is the official DJ for Black Thought of the Legendary Roots crew when Mr. Tariq Trotter is on solo missions doing those live mixtape shows.

We speak on his Reggae Sumfest performance in Jamaica and also when Beenie Man called him out on stage in New York City during the ‘Reggae Rhythm & Blues‘.
We talk about his song ‘Tun Up D Ting‘ on the Overproof Riddim, one of the hottest dancehall riddims of the Summer 2011 produced by Justus.

The Red Bull Thre3style DJ Battle Invades Atlanta – By Kool Kila

Last night I had a chance to attend the Red Bull Thre3style DJ Battle at Club Opera. The event is touring the country in search of DJs to represent their respective cities and compete in Las Vegas, NV, for the national finals and possibly the international finale. Judges in each city will grade DJs for skills and for crowd response. Atlanta DJs in the contest included DJ Jelly, DJ Tron, Martina McFlyy, Speakerfoxxx, DJ Justin KO, DJ Forge, DJ EU, and Club Opera’s resident DJ Chris Rimby.
