DJ Premier speaks on his album with Nas that’s still in the works, working with Slick Rick for the first time ever for the song “Need Some Bad”, & reflects on his Gangstarr partner Guru’s life & legacy. Hardknock TV does some great interviews, but I was surprised that the interviewer was unaware that DJ Premier has worked with Rakim before. Maybe he was wondering about DJ Premier’s absence from Rakim’s Seventh Seal album…

DJ Premier x Bumpy Knuckles – “B.A.P.”

New joint from the collaborative album from DJ Premier & Bumpy Knuckles appropriately titled “B.A.P.” which is short for “Bumpy & Preem”. DJ Premier initially crafted this beat for Jay-Z for the Blueprint 3 album, but it was reportedly turned in too late. Now Bumpy Knuckles does his thing with the track & now this is the first single & title track from the album which is going to be released on DJ Premier’s Works Of Mart label in association with Gracie Productions. DJ Premier says the “Biebster” reached out to be a part of BET’s Hip Hop Awards Cypher segment and Premo supported until he found out Justin Bieber wanted Ludacris to write his rhymes. Oh hell nahhhhhhhh!! Glad to see DJ Premier shut the young bull down with that mess. Makes you wonder how many of the other lames in the cypher this year came with ghostwritten lyrics.
