NBA Allstar Weekend takes place in Brooklyn New York from February 13 to February 15th of this year. Many celebrities, groupies, athletes & fans will be there, but the last few years has shown that when the stars come out so do the goons. Check out this new freestyle from Maino, the self-proclaimed ‘King Of Brooklyn’, over the Gangstarr classic ‘Just To Get A Rep’. I guess people better tuck their chains in next weekend because some things may not have changed in Crooklyn.

While promoting his collaborative album ‘PRhyme’ with Detroit emcee Royce Da 5’9, the legendary DJ Premier stopped by ESPN 2’s ‘Highly Questionable’ with Bomani Jones & Dan Le batard. Preemo gave them a few interesting stories from back in the day including his time at the Playboy Mansion with Hugh Hefner.

Final (Part 3) in the HardKnockTV interview series with PRhyme (DJ Premier x Royce da 5’9). Nick Huff Barili getting insight from Royce on life changes he has gone through.
“I felt like there was a dark cloud over my head for a long time. So when I was rapping about death, I was just rhyming about things that were imminent. Stuff that was happening around that time, it was just a dark time for me.”

Now sober two years, he is grateful for having made it through that period alive and without major jail time. Offering thoughts on where Hip-Hop should be going, Preemo and Royce talk about expectations for the greats. Royce also declared a urge to step into the [Battle Rap] arena and wrap with their favorite tracks on the “PRhyme” album (out now) – including tracks with Jay Electronica and Common.

Okay, deep breaths. Twenty years is a long enough wait. So here goes: I have kept word of this personal project I have been working on from pretty much EVERYBODY (JayForce and my Beatz & Lyrics fam included); partly because it means so much to me but also because timing is crucial…for most everything!
This a reboot (e.g. redo, redux, reffixx mixtape… I actually call it a Rebooth) of the Group Home classic “Livin’ Proof.” Ever since this came out about 20 years ago, I have wondered what my favorite DJ Premier beats off that album would sound under verses from emcees I know and admire. Well, viola! Check out this work of love (TOTALLY FREE, of course) – The “Livin Proof” (Rebooth LP) from BoneBreaker Studios, featuring various artists over the original music by DJ Premier.
This post is for the title track, from BoneBreaker Jones. His music video for this is coming next week. Prepare your hearts and minds to partake, as the reverend would say.

(What’s crazy is… several artists on the project – including the homie SkyBlew – were barely on the planet when Group Home dropped the original plate!)
