Etana x Sunsplash Mix Show Interview (Reggae)
We are elated to have The Strong One, Etana with us for this program and find her relaxing with her daughter as we talk about EP, ‘Reggae’. Released thru VP Records we hear the variety of reggae and Afrobeat and Etana shares her views on being a mother, artist and her recent trip to Kenya with Tarrus Riley. This mix also features some of my favorite current songs and then new music from Iba Mahr, Queen Ifrica and a special from Mojo Morgan.
Love Ultra Radio CD – Part Seven (Urban, Soul, R&B) by Jah Prince
Love Ultra Radio is a live mix show heard weekly on DaFlavaRadio.com by DJ Jah Prince and syndicated in Gambia via Vibes 106.1FM. These selected tracks range from current urban and neo-soul artists (many heard for the first time here). During the last 3 years, the mixes move from pop to soul to club classics and this will showcase that effort. Jah Prince is the official DJ for the monthly ‘POWERSHOOT’ and industry mixer held at House Of Blended Ink (HOBI) . This blog will always have the first link! #Salute

Rapsody x Love Ultra Radio
During this episode we talk with Rapsody about some of our favorite songs featured on Love Ultra including key cuts from her album ‘The Idea Of Beautiful’. We question her about rappers who touch social issues & politics in their rhymes, her being influenced by the mighty Zulu Nation and the tight family known as ‘It’s A Wonderful World Music Group’. We hear a real soulful North Carolina hip hop album showcasing her unique style, touching briefly on her great association with producer 9th Wonder and get to the bottom of how the track ‘Fly Girl Power’ with Estelle came about.
Russian Interview (Producer/Artist)
This morning we talk to Russian the lead producer from Head Concussion Records and we find out how this ‘young-aged’ man has managed to stay in the league of successful professionals in Jamaica. He tells us about dealing with local artists trying to get signed to the label, the beginning of becoming an artist himself which included voicing a combination with Konshens. Russian credits the work ethic of himself and Vybz Kartel for their success thus far and salutes the other producers in the reggae industry who are also helping to keep ‘Reggae’ alive just as much as Dancehall.

Estelle – ‘Thank You’ (Video)
Gotta salute Estelle with this video as we see some candid shots of this soulful singer and her life on tour. Cameos in the end included the wicked producer Jazzwad, celebrity dancer John Hype, Beenie Man, Patexx, Iyara, Bawse Dawg and the Grung Gaad himself Bounty Killer as she stopped of in Jamaica. This song is off her album All Of Me and was also featured on the Love Ultra Mix CD – Part Two.
A funny scene is her being led to the stage to perform on the beach and she looking back at security guard like ‘HELP NUHH’ and then her trying to form the ‘A’ with her fingers to rep for ‘The Alliance’. As we celebrate Jamaica’s 50th year of Independence… This reminds me why ‘Jamaica Nice!’

Yolanda Zellous Love Ultra Radio Interview with Jah Prince
Now let me start this post carefully… this interview with author Yolanda Zellous was about her new book ‘Big Boned Women’. I will try to invite her and the plus sized models she represents c/o Star Sized Studios for part two of the interview BUT let me just whistle the song, “i like big butts and I cannot lie….”. In the book the women share their personal life experiences to provide a clear illustrated message that will create a new reflection of confidence in big boned women. This book shows that she is also a ‘queen of all trades’ including scouting talent for movies and plays. Enjoy the music mix also following the talking.

Courtney John – ‘Gonna Be Alright’ (Video)
Now it is summer 2012 and THIS is very good visual of MY JAMAICA with all the sentiments of Trust, Love and Community. The lyrics are well put together and that audio sample… or that loop…. NOPE the original production is using LIVE MUSICIANS… that’s what Reggae is as you can see at the very end! Courtney John has been a professional and worked with many international artists but still lives & works on the island. And yes we’ll hear this song on the latest Cooyah Island Vibes Mix CD.

Now when this track ‘Caught Up’ appeared on CY Evolution 4, the title also said ‘3-Way’ and there was some questions from the female fans however this official video clears it all up. Shouts to Cooyah sponsors and Jamaican actor Paul Campbell from Shottas who peaked in at the end.
