CyHi The Prynce – “Forever” (Prod. Tec Beatz x Brandon Black)

It is February, Black History Month, and like last year CyHi The Prynce is releasing another “Black Hystori” mixtape. Â This second volume is coming out soon and he has released his first track titled “Forever” that uses the classic Jodeci R&B ballad “Forever My Lady”. Â The production is done by Tec Beatz , Brandon Black & Jeff Leahr. Â CyHi has been consistent with releasing good music & it looks like he is continuing that trend.

CyHi The Prynce – “Mandela” (Video)

One of the most underrated emcees coming out of Atlanta in my opinion, CyHi The Prynce, delivers a visually interesting new video for “Mandela” off of his latest Black Histori Project mixtape. Kinda dope how he took the theme music from the classic 1986 film Shaka Zulu to put together this ‘Mandela’ joint. Although the theme music honored the former Zulu king, Nelson Mandela himself was from the Xhosa tribe in South Africa. No big deal with those minor details, but CyHi still repping that G.O.O.D. music…

Now this joint right here is pure dopeness over a classic hip hop instrumental with Philly’s finest Peedi Crakk & Atlanta’s own CyHi The Prynce demonstrating how ill they both are as emcees. Wack rappers with no type of flow or skill need to study this freestyle joint right here. This particular track is going to appear on Peedi Crakk’s upcoming mixtape “Crakk Files 4” in the near future. Until that drops I’m rewinding this joint right here as I type this….

CyHi Da Prynce drops the follow up to his debut Royal Flush mixtape that dropped in October of last year with this brand new re-up of new music for Royal Flush II……CyHi Da Prynce represents that bridge between various styles of music & lifestyles in Atlanta without dumbing down his talent. His music is everyday man, ladies man, street, lyrical, intelligent, club, & progressive all at once without coming off weak or too contrived. Creative. He seems to be able to repeatedly straddle those lines that the majority of artists just haven’t figured out how to pull off. CyHi Da Prynce is talented…I said it many times before…this kid is official. It’s hard to call this a mixtape. This joint right here is an album. Full tracklist after the jump……

It’s easy for me to understand what the staff at XXL magazine have been doing recently with their freshman covers as of late. I said this a while ago on my twitter page that in making their choices for their annual freshmen cover they are choosing newcomers in the game with their own particular fanbase. I equally applaud XXL magazine for fully taking advantage with these video freestyles & new roundtable discussions. Many of these young guys make some great points about what they need to do from here on out & also rehash a few funny stories.

This special edition was based on Atlanta’s Top 10 Independent Hip Hop artists from now & then in the last 15 years. Although the first part of the of the show dealt with more of the classic artists who have been in Atlanta for a while, this particular segment is centered around the newer artists making their mark in Atlanta. While in Atlanta promoting his critically acclaimed album ‘Greatest Story Never Told’ album, Saigon meets CyHi Da Prynce for the first time & discuss working on a song together. It’s great timing how they met because prior to CyHi stopping by V-103’s studios unexpectedly, Saigon was giving the young Atlanta emcee his props as a lyricist to people who just so happened to be in the studio at the time.
