Food: South L.A.’s African-American Taco Movement (Video)
Okay, you know Memphis for the barbecue and Philly for the cheesesteak… Basically, there are a lot of cities with food that reps. Check out a new food movement: South Los Angeles’ African American Tacos. Just a taste of Food Grails, a new First We Feast travel series.
Welcome to Food Grails, a new First We Feast travel series hosted by Miss Info. As a music journalist, she’s travelled the world and seen the power of artists who rep for their hometown sound. Now, she wants to discover how foods define a city’s flavor—from Atlanta’s lemon-pepper wings, to NYC’s beef patties. These are America’s food grails.
– First We Feast
Learned some math: Profit from slanging tacos > profit from selling weed (wow, plus weed heads probably come through with ‘the munchies’ yo). Serious business here. Watch.

Good Kid m.A.A.d City (Short Film)
Dope! This has been under wraps for three years? WHY?? Check out this K.Dot film that complemented the album dropped a good while back.
A short film from Kendrick Kamar (KDot), giving a great visual on the album of the century “Good kid m.A.A.d City.”
Looks like somebody is trying to keep it under wraps… Go watch now, before ‘they’ snatch this one down, too!
Noisey Bompton: Growing Up With Kendrick Lamar (Parts 2 Through 6) [Video]
Yessir! This is the rest of the K.Dot & Compton mini-doc “Bompton” from VICE Noisey. You might want to take a look at the Part 1 post (here) before hitting play above for Part 2. Parts 3 through 6 are after the jump. Incredible insights on the man who is currently considered to be the man in Hip-Hop by many today.

Noisey Bompton: Growing Up With Kendrick Lamar (Part 1) [Video]
Surely you did not think it was a game when we said that Kendrick Lamar said he would rep Compton for life, did you? He got the Key To The City and he’s still locked in! Well, Noisey is dropping six parts of proof for the last one or two of you doubters out there. Yep, VICELAND Noisey sent one of their Whitest reporters out to the Blood side of Compton (that’s Bompton) to talk to K.Dot and give us perspective on the hood love he gets now and what it was like “Growing up with Kendrick Lamar.” Hood pass granted!
Compton, California, is one of Hip-Hop’s most celebrated locales, the birthplace of acts like N.W.A. and, more recently, Kendrick Lamar. It’s also home to a complicated gang culture. ‘Noisey Bompton’ centers around Kendrick Lamar and the friends he grew up with on the West Side of Compton, many of whom feature on the cover of his album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly.’ In the first of six segments, we sit down with Kendrick to talk about his acclaimed albums, pay a visit to his high school, Centennial, and get to know his childhood friend Lil L.
Compton Awards The ‘Key To The City’ To Kendrick Lamar (Video)
Man, I’m overwhelmed… y’all got to give me a second…
Kendrick Lamar. Yes, the Dr. Dre protege; the Grammy winner (winning on stage, too); the dude doing good from the Hood to the [White] House; and now, recipient of the Key To The City Of Compton. Watch him in all graciousness, and almost no glamorizing. Love shown by the city for the love he has and always will show right back. Respect!
Shout out to Jeandra LeBeauf and BadCulture.net for capturing this proud moment for us all.
Kendrick Lamar – “These Walls” (Video)
Recently I was watching Comedian Corey Holcomb‘s “5150 Show” and he mentioned that he was going to be in the upcoming “These Walls” video by Kendrick Lamar. Â If you know Corey then you know he is hilarious so I knew it was going to be something worth checking out. Â Well the video has now dropped and it didn’t disappoint. Â Kendrick has it titled correctly as a Black comedy because it is an 8 min piece. Â You know how Kendrick does he gives you humor and a message all tied in together.

Anderson .Paak Breaks Down His Verse On “Animals” Off Dr. Dre’s “Compton” LP (Video)
One of my favorite songs off of Dr. Dre’s new “Compton” album is “Animals” produced by DJ Premier featuring this artist right here!
Up and coming West Coast Rapper/Singer Anderson .Paak was featured heavily on Dr. Dre’s latest album “Compton” which was inspired by the new film “Straight Outta Compton.” Anderson performs and provides the meaning behind an important track to him on the album, “Animals” which was produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Premier.
Kendrick Lamar – “For Free?” (Video)
Jayforce, Ojones, Twice Born The God, and I often talk about how artists should put out quality visuals to bring great records to life. Â Well Kendrick Lamar brings to life not just a track off his album but the fan favorite interlude “For Free” and the visuals do it justice. Â I think we all who have played “To Pimp A Butterfly” album rapped this interlude and yelled out “This D!*k aint free”. Â The video is directed by Joe Weil & The Little Homies (K-Dot always showing love to his people) with a beautiful lady playing the sassy mouth woman in the video. Â Kendrick plays a few characters himself, Uncle Sam and with some cgi in the final scene he plays everyone. Â I think you will enjoy and remember “This D!*k aint free”

N.W.A. Nominated For The 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
It’s so crazy how two of my favorite groups of all-time have both been nominated for the 2013 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. We saw the announcement from DJ Lord & Flavor Flav about their group Public Enemy’s nomination, but upon closer inspection we also see the guys who put Compton on the map get nominations. Ice Cube, Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, & DJ Yella as N.W.A. get the nods as well & the timing couldn’t be anymore perfect as there is already a biographical film that’s currently in production directed by F. Gary Gray to tell their story. Dope!
