Comedian Tommy Davidson Speaks On Colin Kaepernick (Video)
I think if you get a group of rich White men together, you best watch out… every single time.
Lean in as funnyman Tommy Davidson sets the jokey-jokes aside and gets real about ‘the kneel,’ the response of the ‘rich White men’ and more.
Tommy Davidson breaks down his thoughts on Colin Kaepernick’s stance and how Black NFL players can react to future injustice.

KevOnStage Explains “Why Nike Ain’t Worried” About The Boycott (Video)
He’s got a point. Several points. And anybody ‘big mad’ enough about Colin Kaepernick being a spokesperson for Nike’s new marketing campaign can have several seats… while we #TakeAKnee
(And they can grab a cape, because when they realize that Kaep will get a check while they rip/burn/etc. products on which they’ve already spent hard-earned money on, they will be SUPER MAD!)

Jalen Rose & Jadakiss Talk About Artists’ Taking A Stand And Defending Their Music (Video)
Jada spoke on it: “All money isn’t good money.” It was good that Hip-Hop let EA Sports know that we stand with Kaep. Rappers can take a knee and take a stand, esp. when it comes to ‘mistaken’ censorship of their music.
(Hard to believe they called removing Kaep’s mentions in song lyrics a mistake.)
Jadakiss joins Jalen Rose to talk about the fact that Colin Kaepernick’s name was edited out of a verse in Madden 19 from a Big Sean song, and how the former San Francisco 49ers QB’s name was added back in after Big Sean’s complaints.

Colin Kaepernick Explains Why He Took A Knee (Video)
People sometimes forget that love is at the root of our resistance.
Yeah. That part.
Watch and listen to Colin Kaepernick explain (again) exactly why he took a knee, what he is taking a stand on, and why other like-minded people should, have, and should continue to challenge racial injustice.

Sports/Politics: NFL Set To Penalize Players Who ‘Take A Knee’
New NFL policy will require players on the field for the anthem to show the anthem and flag “appropriate respectâ€. Teams, not players, can be fined for not adhering. Will allow players to stay in locker room for the anthem, teams to set their own rules under conduct detrimental.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) May 23, 2018
Well, would you look at that? Not even claiming to be all that surprised or shocked that the NFL and owners found a way to appease the majority (White apathetic/unsympathetic Americans) AND get all those who #TakeAKnee with Kaep off the field.
So they have found a way to eliminate a peaceful, yet impactful, protest method (wow). What’s more, it looks like they have cleared the way for teams to ‘deal with’ players who choose not to stand during the National Anthem and presentation. To be clear: The option to stay/observe in the locker is a cop-out in the weakest way. It’s an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ attempt, plain and simple.
But this is NOT out of our minds. We can watch and be mindful of who is NOT on the field during the anthem and presentation of the flag (e.g. those who are still protesting unjust treatment of Black people by the authorities). And what about the core issue; the motivation that drove Colin Kaepernick to take a stand by taking a knee? Wonder if the NFL will call a special meeting, assemble a subcommittee, etc. to enact new policy that speaks to or acts against law enforcement’s abuses of power, brutality, and murder?
I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Erykah Badu ‘Takes A Knee’ At The Soul Train Awards (Video)
Erykah ‘Badu kneels in honor of Colin Kaepernick.’ Now some say, THAT’S the way to kick off the Soul Train Awards! Could be a title for an interesting article post. Meh… went another way.
However, Badu started off the right way, right away! Respect. The struggle continues.

Colin Kaepernick: GQ Magazine’s “Citizen Of The Year.†Here’s Why (Video)
I saw an attempt to reframe the whole ‘Kaep blackballed for #TakeAKnee‘ argument. Going so far as belittling his moves & societal standing. You might have seen it on Facebook or something: in essence saying current NFL standout JJ Watt raised millions for hurricane relief while Colin Kaepernick just gave a million or so.
Hey. JJ Watt did a great thing; inspiring others to join his cause. Colin is TRYING to do a great necessary thing; trying to compel law enforcement, lawmakers, and the uninformed majority to actually ACT like #BlackLivesMatter too. Yeah, less popular. Less money in it. But even though Colin’s number is “smaller,” the dollars are doing big things!
Watch. See why Kaep DESERVES to be “Citizen Of The Year!”

People Have Been ‘Disrespecting The Flag’ For Decades (Video)
Hmm… So why are these actual Flag Code violations (read: instances of disrespect for the flag) okay, but ‘taking a knee’ is not? Fact is, kneeling is NOT a violation of flag code. So, what now? Talk to us, ‘Murica.
Trump said NFL players disrespected the flag by kneeling during the national anthem. As it turns out, “disrespecting” the flag is probably more common than you think.

Sports/Politics: Nick Wright’s Question For People Angered By The #TakeAKnee Movement: What Are You Actually Mad At? (Video)
I’m not gonna engage on the absurdity that we just ran a clip where a player quotes the President Of The United States, and we felt we needed to bleep it.
– Nick Wright
Yeah. And this isn’t the first time the words of the POTUS have been ‘bleeped’… But let’s not engage in the folly for now.
Instead, let’s follow Nick’s lead. Let’s follow the line of reasoning, avoiding all the crazy and staying on that line… bypassing the false equivocations… walking past the baseless arguments of the Trumpeters and stepping over their misunderstandings, barreling through that wall protecting those who want to make ‘Murica great again, make football in ‘Murica great again, until we arrive at the heart of what those against the PEACEFUL #TakeAKnee movement are really against…
Because once we get to the end of that line of unreasonable, where folks in their feelings have nowhere to go and have to answer honestly about why they detest #TakeAKnee …”What Are You Actually Mad At?”
And before someone says it… we’re NOT going to ‘just stick to sports’ this time. I just want them to say the words.

Activist/Reverend Jesse Jackson Says Former NFL QB Colin Kaepernick Should Have The Right To Play And Express Himself At The Same Time (Video)
Above: Bill Maher and Reverend Jackson have a real talk about what is at the essence of Kaep’s stand (or kneel) in PEACEFUL protest… not ‘standing’ for the way Black people are expected to honor the flag & anthem of a country that does not honor them as it should. Kaep can’t get a job in the league, and yet he broke no league or team rule that anyone can cite. Owners and major stakeholders, just in their feelings, are keeping him from his bag. Maybe they are ‘teaching him a lesson’ (maybe teaching US a lesson). Whatever they’re doing smells, and Maher and Jackson talk about what it smells like.
He should have the right to express himself. He’s not burning the flag, he’s not hustling drugs to teammates, he’s not shooting people with guns.

Live Footage From ‘United We Stand: Rally for Colin Kaepernick’ (Video)
When does a protest gesture become a movement? When others get involved. Rosa Parks took a stand by refusing to stand and go to the back of the bus, then boycott, then movement. Kaep took a stand by taking a knew because he felt he could no longer stand our American nightmare (injustice, police brutality) that is our current situation. You have no doubt heard talk about boycotting the NFL. Do we now have a movement?
Time will tell. But for right now, we do have a rally. Check it out.
We’re live at the NFL headquarters in NYC as demonstrators rally in support of unsigned quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Roland Martin Chastises Bill O’Reilly For Not Respecting Colin Kaepernick’s Protest (Video)
Uh oh. Colin, you can drop back for a second and let brother Roland put the blitz on Billy [Bob] O’Reilly. Sacked him!! When Roland goes, “So, Bill, DAMN your book,” you KNOW the ‘turn up’ turned the corner!
“Bill, what books are you reading?”
Roland Martin gave Bill O’Reilly a history lesson on patriotism and African Americans.
O’Reilly wants Colin Kaepernick to read his book about patriotism, but Martin, host of NewsOne Now says O’Reilly has it all wrong and offered a series of tiles that O’Reilly should read instead.
Jesse Ventura Speaks On Black People Being The True Forerunners Of American Music, Colin Kaepernick’s Courageous Stand And More (Video)
Whoa. If former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura and renegade for life was the type to be ‘scurred’ it would be for speaking up like this. Fascinating interview! Kicks off his time with Heather B on Sway In The Morning by showing a direct link between music that came from Led Zeppelin and the earlier Chitlin Circuit stuff from underappreciated Black music legend Robert Johnson.
All American music originates from [the Black people] that were brought here.
– Jesse Ventura
Watch as Ventura goes in with the knowledge, his life experiences, political experiences & views (esp. on the upcoming presidential election and voting FOR someone, not AGAINST someone)… how he came to learn “what it feels like to be a Black man in America  the Colin Kaepernick situation… his legalize-it book “Marijuana Manifesto” and so much more!
