Chi Ali – “Games & Things” feat. Fat Joe

Although I’m late getting this joint posted up I’ve had this soulful Showbiz produced joint “Games & Things” on repeat several times in my itunes over the past week. The late great Chi Ali is gradually releasing new music after serving a lengthy 12-year stint in prison for murder. Enlisting the help of his Bronx NY brethren Fat Joe was a great decision for this first official joint to announce his return to music. Not sure if he intends to release an album, but as long as he keep the quality coming like this then ‘I ain’t mad at cha’.

Studio Session: Skyzoo x Chi-Ali Record “Jansport Strings Remix” (Video)

Skyzoo’s latest single “Jansport Strings” was a pretty dope tribute to Chi-Ali who was recently released from prison & now back making music. What’s even more interesting is Skyzoo has linked up with Chi-Ali & they’ve recorded the remix at my homie Fokis’s studio in Brooklyn. That’s not only dope, but that’s historic for many reasons. Chi-Ali Speaks About His Time On The Run & In Prison For 14 Years On MTV’s RapFix Live (Video)

MTV caught up with rap artist Chi-Ali who was released from prison after a year on the run from authorities & subsequently serving 12 years in prison for manslaughter. It got so deep for Chi-Ali why he was on the run that he was eventually featured on primetime television’s “America’s Most Wanted”. Many of you younger hip hop heads may not know that Chi-Ali was a teenage rap star & the youngest member of the Native Tongues crew with a few notable joints like “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number”, “Funky RoadRunner”, & “Funky Lemonade”. MTV’s RapFix Live caught with him in Miami for his first interview since being released.

Skyzoo – “Jansport Strings” (Video)

“The video, directed by Anthony Sylvester, was shot throughout Bed Stuy, Brooklyn NY. The theme was to show the parallels between me as a 9-year old aspiring emcee and me now as an accomplished emcee and artist, and how the things around me that groomed me haven’t changed. The song is a 3-minute auto-bio of me as a kid in Brooklyn. The ending is a clip from Video Music Box, the legendary NYC video show run by DJ Ralph McDaniels. This episode in particular was the debut of Chi-Ali’s classic ‘Age Ain’t Nothin But A Number’. Seeing that video that day on this episode of VMB made me start rhyming. This clip was literally the moment that changed my life. And the Chi-Ali tee shirt is pretty amazing. They’ll be on sale soon. Enjoy…” –Skyzoo
In an rather coincidental sort of timing, Chi-Ali was recently released from prison & Special Ed posted a photo of the two together. So indeed one time for Chi-Ali coming home as well. Check out Special Ed’s quote & the photo after the jump.
