History: Life In Roman Britain (Video)

Caught a BBC write-up on this Roman Britain history animation video. Intriguing – both that the animators/producers chose to mix in brown-skinned characters as something other than slave-level AND that there was much Twitter beef about the historical accuracy of including Black people in the mix. Well, that second part is not that ‘intriguing’ as you KNOW someone is gonna hate when folks give Black people anywhere near a fair shake.
Come on. Why can’t haters skip the arguments (which they just might lose, seeing some scholars clap back that there were Brit Blacks back then)? To historical accuracy… would this clip’s detractors argument against White actress Elizabeth Taylor playing Cleopatra or all the non-Native players of Native Americans in the ‘classic’ movies? Want to go deeper? Okay, anyone want to tackle the ‘accuracy’ of Tom Cruise playing a White American Army officer who becomes the bad-azz sword-swinging ‘Last Sumerai’ in a year or so?
Yeah. Just watch the cartoon. LISTEN to the content. Maybe learn something about Britannia back in the day.

Okay, Robert Downey Jr. studied Elon Musk to capture his essence and channel it to bring ‘Iron Man’ to life on the big screen. Fact. But what about the flying armor suit tech? Is that ever gonna come to life? Could be.
A British inventor has created his very own human propulsion jet suit – he’s being dubbed the real-life ‘Iron Man.’

Yes, Richard Browning has done a lot of falling down to get up to this point. And he admits in the video there is a way to go before humans will be using this for anything like day-to-day human transport. But this video is SO much like that scene when Tony Stark was building the Mark II suit in ‘Iron Man.’ After the jump, you’ll see that clip and more video on the prototype jet suit.

Technology: Nissan’s FPV Drone Is Insanely Fast (Video)

We’ve done our share of posts on drones on here for certain. We’ve even written up drone racing for sport. That might bring to mind just how fast these things go; but how fast is that really?
Well, Nissan has this GT-R Drone – one of the fastest accelerating FPV (First Person View) racing drones in the world. Watch it above, keeping up with the new 2017 Nissan GT-R while filming on the track.
Zero to 100, real quick. Like in less than two seconds. Crazy!

This is the story of one of Britain’s most notorious reformed criminals, Jason Coghlan, who spent 16 years behind bars before he found an even more dangerous and effective pastime: studying the law. VICE gained intimate access to Jason’s life over two years, witnessing the rise of his legal firm, which explicitly caters to the gangsters of the Costa Del Sol in Spain. However, the echoes of his old life are never far away and a gang feud in Jason’s native Manchester threatens to unravel his new amicable existence.
