Black Milk – “Don Cornelius”

With the news of the death of the legendary host of Soul Train Don Cornelius, I was immediately reminded of Detroit producer & emcee Black Milk’s song “Don Cornelius” which was leaked on the web back in 2010. The song felt like it wasn’t completely finished, but now would be the time for Black Milk to possibly rearrange the words a little, but the sample & chorus of “Keep Your Lighters Up” would make all the sense in the world. For now let’s rewind this joint back for the Don….. Love, Peace, & Soul!

Black Milk x Jack White – ‘Brain’/’Royal Mega’

Motor city representatives Jack White of The White Stripes and Black Milk have teamed up to drop a 7′ of rock, funk, and hip hop fusion to be released as the first project from Jack White’s Third Man Records.
Black Milk says this of the collab on his website:
My first reaction was one of shock that an artist like him, who most people would categorize as a rock star, would want to work with an independent hip-hop artist. My second reaction was surprise that he even knew I existed, even though we’re from the same city. Of course, my response was “Hell yeah! When and where do I need to be to make this happen?†A few back and forth emails led to my band (keyboardist AB; drummer Daru Jones; and bassist Malik Hunter) and I taking a trip to Nashville to record at Jack’s home studio.

This is one of my favorite songs from the brand new Random Axe album that just dropped featuring the talents of Sean Price, Guilty Simpson, & Black Milk. When I first heard this song I had it on repeat for about 5 or 6 times in a row. Duck Down wasted no time getting a video out for this banger too! From Detroit To Brooklyn….Ain’t nothing like that REAL hip hop music!

The album is reportedly done & the first single the brothas decide to let loose is this joint dedicated to our Detroit homie ‘Hexmurda’.
