Mannnnnnnn North Carolina is churning out some of the best quality hip hop right now. I’m not too familiar with Cutlass Reid but I do believe he was at one time working with VA producer Nottz in a group called D.M.P.  I’m definitely feeling this joint right here & especially because I also dig hearing 9th Wonder rhyme under his alter ego ‘9thMatic’. Many of these producers like Nottz, Focus…, Hi-Tek, & others are rapping waaaay better than the artists in the mainstream. This joint ‘Eviction Notice’ will appear on Cutlass Reid’s upcoming mixtape called ‘One Day At A Time’ due Tuesday. Check out some behind the scenes footage under the hood….

Phonte Releasing Debut Solo Album With 9th Wonder Serving As One Of The Key Producers

The folks over at The Urban Daily caught up with Phonte & 9th Wonder for an interview & they delivered some great news that many fans had been anticipating. Not only have the two reconciled their differences, but Phonte says that 9th Wonder will be contributing the majority of the tracks for the album as he’ll be responsible for the albums overall direction in terms of the sound. Phonte says he randomly chose September 13th as the release date for his solo project which coincidentally was the release date of the Minstrel Show which was the last Little Brother album the released together six years ago. Check out the interview HERE

I have to agree with Phonte & 9th Wonder on the use of the word ‘N*gga’ by other racial groups. If you don’t have any melanin in your skin you’re really taking a risk with your safety. If you’re not related to me then don’t say it to me because it could be easily taken out of context. Simple as that.

Edo G drops the first single from his upcoming album ‘A Face In The Crowd’ featuring production from DJ Premier, Statik Selektah, Mphases, & a gang of other producers & collaborators. This particular track reminds me of a joint 9th Wonder produced a few years back with the same Curtis Mayfield sample off of his ‘Dream Merchant’ album. I’m not sure if 9th Wonder retweeked it & produced this one for Edo G though…..

This joint literally dropped on the web about one year ago this week. After posting the Pharoahe Monch video featuring Idris Elba I just felt the urge to post this joint. JAYFORCE.COM wasn’t in existence a year ago so it’s only right to post this in case many of you have missed it. Before actor Idris Elba’s acting career jumped off he mostly paid his bills by DJing parties. In this particular song produced by 9th Wonder, Idris Elba steps in the role of an reggae influenced emcee by the name of King Driis.
