Smoke DZA – “Badabing’s Theme” (Prod. By Harry Fraud) [Video]
One of my favorite songs from the lead lyricist of the Smoke Dza x Pete Rock’s project gets a brand new video! Dza doing dopeness over ‘la musica de Harry Fraud.’ “Badabing’s Theme” is off that “He Has Risen” project Smoke DZA and Fraud put out last year around this time. Banger!

I don’t care which rapper you like… He was the illest! P!
– Agallah
Rocking the R.I.P! paraphernalia and rocking the block… painted with Price imagery… whew, ain’t nothing like when fam spits the truth for you. You KNOW the feel of this one. Channeling Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s tribute to the fallen Trouble T-Roy, this is Sean Price’s mans’n’em Agallah with “T.R.O.P.” (They Reminisce Over P).
Large Professor Names His Top 5 Producers Of All-Time (Video)
If anyone can speak to a top 5 all-time list for Hip-Hop producers, it’d have to be a stalwart like Large Professor. Google-research it for yourself sometime if you need convincing (you don’t; take our word)… Large Pro is WORTHY! So who makes the cut? DJ Mark The 45 King, Easy Mo Bee, Marley Marl, Rick Rubin, DJ Premier and Pete Rock.
Wait… isn’t that SIX? Haaa! C’mon, give him one. Enjoyable sit-down with ‘Sway In The Morning’ (above) that includes more good Hip-Hop convo (including talk about his “Re:Living” release).

Diamond D – “It’s Magic” feat. Alchemist x Evidence (Video)
The official D.I.T.C. emcee, DJ, & producer Diamond D’s new album the ‘Diam Piece’ has been one of my favorites to have dropped in 2014. After dropping the new video ‘Only Way 2 Go’ featuring Pete Rock just a number of days ago, Diamond D takes it out to the West Coast for new visuals to ‘It’s Magic’ featuring the dual threat of Alchemist & Evidence who are literally ‘laying it down’ in the streets of Los Angeles.

R&B: Usher – “Good Kisser” (DJ Jaycee Straight Tongue Remix)
Usher obviously found a winner when he found that “Good Kisser” he sang about. Well, we got a winner when DJ Jaycee put his special powers on the song for this Straight Tongue Remix. Straight Tongue kiss… reminisce over your last one while you play this track (you’ll get the reference when the music drops). Dope mix!
Usher over a classic Pete Rock track?? mannnnnn this is such a no-brainer to play.

Pharoahe Monch feat. Diamond D – “Rap Life” (Video)
Brand new video from Pharoahe Monch for the Diamond D produced banger “Rap Life”. I was fortunate to be able to see this video well before it was released thanks to my homie Amond Jackson from Salem Psalms Library who co-directed the flick with Deacon the Villain. The video features a quite a number of noteworthy cameos including dope west coast producer Alchemist but what stands out to me are the number of talented FEMALE DJs, visual artists, emcees, producers who make cameos in the clip. Visual artist & photographer Ree Swa is seen holding the Japanese sword in the video while critically respected female emcees such as Jean Grae, Boog Brown, & Stahhr make ‘Rap Life’ appearances as well as my homegirl, model & true school hip hop head, Miss Serena AZ who’s seen holding the guns in the clip. Be on the lookout for Diamond D’s upcoming project ‘The Diam Piece’ as well as Pharoahe Monch’s upcoming project “P.T.S.D” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)” with the latter being out to tax you on April 15th. Pharoahe Monch’s project may have very few features for the conceptually based project, however Diamond D’s background primarily as a producer should require him to have a lengthy guestlist that will include Fat Joe, Pete Rock, Talib Kweli, Elzhi, Smif-N-Wessun, Hi-Tek, Ras Kass, Kurupt, Camp Lo, & more. Peep some behind-the-scenes photos from the video shoot & trailers to both Pharaohe Monch’s & Diamond D’s upcoming projects below….
9th Wonder At Harvard: “The Hip-Hop Fellow” (Trailer)
Slated for release next month, “The Hip-Hop Fellow” is a feature-length film documenting super-producer 9th Wonder’s time as a Harvard University professor, teaching “The Breaks†to a bunch of students of the Cambridge (Massachusetts) institution. 9th Wonder’s contribution is an awesome complement to Harvard’s Hip-Hop Archive (see our post on Nas being honored there). Each and together these are a blessing to the campus community and the world.
The trailer captures commentary and cosigns by Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Young Guru, Pete Rock, DJ Premier and more. This documentary is going to be a “don’t miss” to be certain. Watch.
He has the love for it. He has the drive for it. It’s always been in him. He’s the genius behind it. You know, it’s only right.

Want a winning hand in this game of Hip-Hop? Load the deck – like Marco Polo did on “Astonishing” – with Large Professor, Inspectah Deck, O.C., Tragedy Khadafi, and DJ Revolution. “Port Authority 2: The Director’s Cut” is gonna be crazy!
“PA2: The Director’s Cut is not a ‘compilation’ project. Rather, much like projects from the producers (Jay Dee, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, etc), that have influenced Marco, it’s a seamlessly blended piece of art featuring a who’s-who of the industry’s top MCs; each track crafted and specialized to fit each MC’s strengths…This sh!t is called Astonishing for a reason. Enjoy. PA2 coming soon.”

Yasiin Bey – “Re:Definition” (Mixtape) By DJ Dub
Anyone who knows me is well aware that one of my favorite hip hop artists is the emcee formerly known as Mos Def. Looks like I’m not the only one as DJ Dub links with FreeOnsmash to deliver this brand new Yasiin Bey – “ReDefinition” mixtape. Listen, download & check out the tracklisting plus additional information below….
“Some artists in the hip-hop genre are so confident in their natural talent, that they can do whatever they please on the mic. The Mighty Mos Def, I’m sorry, Yasiin Bey is one of those people. Being able to flex his acting chops, serve as a conduit for the spirit of Ali by way of Louis Vuitton and not miss a beat on the microphone, is an amazing feat by any standard. DJ Dub brings portions of his vast catalog to life mixing classics, b-sides and his infamous Dub mixes to create a listening experience that should not be missed. Consider Re:DEFinition as your official introduction to the artist known as Yasiin Bey.”
