Science/Technology: This ‘Superman Memory Crystal’ Can Store All The Knowledge On Earth For Billions Of Years (Video)
Okay, this science-fiction-turned-science-fact HAD to get invented if we are ever going to get the Star Trek style talking computer I know you nerds are out there working on. Without getting too too ‘sciency’ with the talk (you can follow the link below for that), the coin-sized glass disk technology displayed above is said to be capable of storing the history of mankind on it for billions upon billions of years. The tech’s creators – scientists at the University of Southampton’s Optoelectronics Research Centre – call it the “Superman memory crystal.â€
So that means the nerds working on this were likely inspired by those crystals Superman plugs into his Fortress Of Solitude… you know, the ones that allow him to interactively access the sum knowledge and history of his destroyed home world of Krypton.
I will say it again: If you want fantasy to become real-world, inspire the nerds. They will make that sh!t HAPPEN!

Willowbrook State’s Abandoned Infirmary Looks Like Where Every Gore-Filled Horror Movie Is Set (Video)
Alright. We will admit. Having done some motion video work, this is production design gold. BUT… doesn’t it just scream “Get the f#ck out before you get MURDERED” or “Watch out for that TETANUS over…EVERYWHERE” or… wait, is that petrified sh!t in that toilet?? DISGUSTING!
Check out this behind the scenes stuff captured by Jason Goldwatch for Gangrene.
Seen some of this before? Kudos to you for killer memory recall AND for being a loyal follower. Footage from the abandoned Willowbrook State School campus was used in earlier Gangrene music video posts for “Sheet Music” (RIP Sean Price) and “The Last Great Disgrace.â€

Talib Kweli And Bill Maher Discuss #BlackLivesMatter Protesters Interrupting Bernie Sanders’ Presidential Campaign Speech (Video)
Bill Maher: Why Bernie Sanders? …If you’re gonna interrupt somebody… This guy had a hundred percent approval rating from the NAACP.
Talib Kweli: NAACP liked Donald Sterling, too.
And folks, that’s how we dig into a real conversation! Watch the video clip above and gain some perspective.
A while back, #BlackLivesMatter shut down a speech appearance by 2016 Presidential hopeful and leading American Progressive Bernie Sanders. Many disagreed with the women who took the mic. But EVERYONE paid attention, talked about it, talked about #BlackLivesMatter from many angles. Whether you ultimately agree or disagree with the tactic, Kweli does make a couple of solid points. The first, the duty of activist-protesters is to disrupt and gain the platform (which #BlackLivesMatter did LITERALLY). The second, NO candidate should take the Black vote for granted in 2016.
Very interesting. Do you agree with Kweli? Discuss…

The Kickstarter Fundraising Campaign For ‘Stretch And Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives’ Is Going On Now (Video)
A chance to contribute to the film that documents the contribution of two Hip-Hop radio icons. Man, Scarface was just talking about Stretch & Bobbito during that last radio interview we just posted here. Talk about full circle!
Peace! Stretch and Bobbito here, 25 years after our first WKCR broadcast. We’re amped to share the history of our landmark show in a feature length documentary titled STRETCH AND BOBBITO: RADIO THAT CHANGED LIVES (www.stretchandbobbito.com). The film, produced by Omar Acosta, was co-produced by us with Kool Bob Love directing and Stretchy music supervising. A classic combo, yo!
The documentary film is all but a reality, having surpassed its fundraising goal. But we linked the Kickstarter… still got a few days to kick in on it. The film is due out October 2015.
(Whew! Do you see all the folks that fell through the show back then??? History!)

‘White Squad’ Helps People Of Color Enjoy White Privilege (Video)
Mm hmmmm! This is going to enlighten some, sting others, and make most of us laugh. Good! Saw MTV coming with something truly bold and provocative (no, not a ’16 & Pregnant’ spin-off) – a biting satire called “White Squad.” Part of the network’s Look Different campaign against prejudice, it features a ‘consultancy’ that offers advice and provides stand-ins to help clients of color get fair treatment in situations where being lighter (read: White) is an advantage.
As the “White Squad” site says, “White privilege is real. White Squad is fiction.” So, in a way that respects our intelligence (and sometimes may have us forgetting that it’s just TV), “White Squad” brings up and faces down uncomfortable societal issues. While being tongue-in-cheek funny, it makes us ALL think about how people of color are treated. Now, if MTV’s broaching topics they should ‘leave alone’… that is, if “White Squad” content threatens to make folks uncomfortable… then those folks should should watch. “White Squad” and the Look Different campaign was meant to reach them; not just so-called ‘offenders’ but those who have accepted being ‘offended’ as part of being part of society, too.
Fair is fair for everyone; not just the fairer-skinned. That’s what this site says. Watching you MTV. VERY interesting…
Adventures With ArtByOdell : Los Trompos Exhibit at High Museum (Video)
Quite often I get asked why I go by the name of “ArtByOdell” it’s pretty simple really my name is Odell and I am an Artist. Â Art is something I have been passionate about for years and the High Museum here in Atlanta, GA is one of my favorite places to visit. Â So when they had an opening ceremony for their latest Los Trompos exhibit I had to go check it out and cover it for the site. Â The term Los Trompos translates to Spinning Tops in Spanish and they are beautiful interactive pieces made with a special fabric that is very colorful and flexible. Â The artists Hector Esrawe & Ignacio Cadena both hail from Mexico City worked together to bring us these beautiful creations. Â They are featured in video along with my good friend DJ EU who provided the sounds for the day. Â I even ran into the homie Blc Txt a local Hip Hop Artist here in Atlanta, GA. Â The exhibit will run until November 29th 2015 it is located on the campus of the Woodruff Arts Center in the Silly Piazza right outside of the High Museum. Â Be sure to check it out before it is over and be on the lookout for the next Adventure with ArtByOdell!

Oddisee – “Belong To The World”
Love, honesty, and selflessness… that’s how Oddisee fights “The Good Fight.” It’s virtue meets Hip-Hop virtuoso.
For Oddisee, “The Good Fight†is about living fully as a musician without succumbing to the traps of hedonism, avarice, and materialism. It’s music that yields an intangible feeling: the sacral sound of an organ whine, brass horns, or a cymbal crash. It’s a meditation on our capacity to love and the bonds binding us together. It’s our ambition and greed warring with our sense of propriety – a list of paradoxes we all face when living and striving.
Even with the stacked odds against good music, and even good people, Oddisee refuses to submit. And look: To win the hearts and minds of people… FREE music! Sure you can stream “The Good Fight” (album), and buy if you like. But he goes further. Giving away a single (“Belong To The World”). Give it a listen. Hit the link below.

Cormega Builds Bridges with ‘Dead End HipHop’ on the Social Politics of ‘MegaPhilosophy’ (Video)
Honest criticism is becoming a lost art. Good thing nobody has told the clever folks over at DeadEndHipHop that. They continue to review and discuss HipHop in a forum that is delivered with honest opinions, examples and sometimes arguments that lead to you guessed it a Dead End.
They say down with Cormega during the A3C festival back in October and just released the visuals for that interview. Cormega performed on our Beatz & Lyrics Show/Jayforce.com showcase during the festival. The review is of “MegaPhilosophy”, Cormega’s recent album, entirely produced by Large Professor. The fellas Feefo, Kbinge, C-Town, and Beezy all give their thoughts on the album.  One of the highlights of the interview is Cormega interacting with Beezy who wasn’t that fond of some of the album’s message when they originally reviewed the album watch and see what happens.  So make sure you download the new mixtape “The Joint” brought to you by DeadEndHipHop & Salem Psalms Studio that features a track by Cormega CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

Red Pill – “All Of Us” (Prod. By Apollo Brown)
If Eric Garner looked like me, he would’ve never been killed.
– Red Pill
Now THAT’S a powerful opening for some Rhythmic American Poetry. Must be that Red Pill stands for freeing minds from ‘The Matrix’ and letting us see the world for what it is. At least that’s what it seems Red Pill is going in for on this Apollo Brown track. Take a listen to “All Of Us,” and do it again to let it sink in.
Waka Flocka Flame – “5:56”
Flocka is from Queens? For everything Hip-Hop heads have said (or kindly ‘not said’) about Waka… it’s like the rapper went to emcee camp and attended all the classes and some electives! We posted on his “Fire Squad” submission. Now, dude is taking a run at some classic Hip-Hop beats (most from the Golden Era); and going in on them. We should celebrate when an emcee chooses the right path y’all. Anytime you find yourself getting as upset (as I do) at whack rappers scoring millions of views/downloads, stop yourself. Ask yourself, “Did I play a part in this?” Did I ‘show’ someone this whackness on YouTube (and add another listen to the count) or did I share a post like this; and celebrate steps in the right direction?
(It’s a whole lot more effective than hating on today’s “crappy music”… Remember how that worked out when your parents hated on YOUR music?)
Give Waka Flaka a listen on his “5:56” post on the SoundCloud. And go back and listen to his “Fire Squad” one more time.
