Two of Philly’s favorite sons were engaged in a good ‘ol fashioned snap session backstage during Meek Mill’s ‘Dreams & Nightmares’ tour recently. Comedian Kevin Hart took on Meek Mill & his crew as they traded jokes at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles prior to the show. Meek Mill’s debut album ‘Dreams & Nightmares’ drops October 30th. Amen!

Sterling Simms channels Barrington Levy (see “Murderer”) for this hot joint “Tell Her Again” (featuring Meek Mill). The song will likely appear on the forthcoming Sterling Simms debut album, “TGWKS (The Girl Who Kissed Sterling).” Much to love about this video: EYE CANDY (whew)… how they shot Simms walking through a graveyard like he’s gone literally kill the p*ssy… even the sick biking (peep the “one way” sign on the bottom of the ATV)! Don’t understand all the profanity in what would otherwise be a very good R&B record but it is what it is…

North Philly rap artist Meek Mill’s latest single “Amen” featuring Drake is catchy as hell, but it’s most definitely not a gospel record in any shape or form. The song is the latest single to appear on Meek Mill’s upcoming album “Dreams & Nightmares” due August 28th pushed back to October 30th on Maybach Music Group. If you’ve just left church thinking this is an inspirational gospel hip hop record you’ll be sadly mistaken. Amen. Chuuuuch. Preeeeeach. Tabernacle.

I have to admit I do get a rush looking at fearless motorbike videos as cats rip through my hometown of Philly. In a way it takes me back there in a nostalgic sort of way just seeing the old neighborhoods & it just reminds me of the summertime when cats would rip down the blocks. Meek Mill does have a lot going for him with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group but he may need to ease up on riding on these bikes too often. The state of Pennsylvania doesn’t have a helmet law so you don’t have to wear one without getting cited or locked up, but young kids racing through Philly on bikes is becoming a problem because of the rise in fatal injuries. Ironically, from the above clip, Meek Mill almost became one of those statistics. Brothas are taking “L’s” everyday in Philly & Meek has great things going for him so he may need to just chill a little. Slow down Meek Milly….

That Philly Bull Meek Mill is set to drop his next mixtape “Dreamchasers 2” on April 24th but not before dropping a new video for the song “Faded Too Long” that will also appear on the project. The “Faded Too Long” jawn is really a freestyle track to Drake & The Weeknd’s song called “The Ride” off of Drake’s ‘Take Care’ album. Despite Meek Mill’s successful ride within the music industry & with MMG, I really dig how he hasn’t really lost touch with the essence of what Philly cats are all about in their music. Most Philly artists aren’t too flossy & never too far removed from the people…..

Besides Meek Mill’s hit joint with Rick Ross called “Ima Boss”, this Cardiak produced track is probably my second favorite joint from Meek Mill other than the “Middle Of The Summer” joint he dropped on this Dreamchasers mixtape. Glad they made a video out of this song right here because it bangs…..

Without a doubt this is one of my favorite rap songs of the past year off Wale’s latest album “Ambition”. Not only does the song sound dope from a production standpoint, but Wale, Rick Ross, & Meek Mill seem to capture the stress of the average black man trying to make in it America. Far too often people see all the successes but forget the struggle to get to those trophies. This song is about every man who has some ambition to be greater than their immediate conditions. It’s no secret why I was bangin’ this song out on my radio show….

This song didn’t stand out to me when I heard it initially, but it sounds good close to the beach. Good to see the Philly bwoi Meek Mill bring in fellow Philly native Young Chris in on this too. I’ve had this song on repeat several times since hearing it for the first time last night. “Ambition” is the title track to Wale’s new album dropping on Tuesday November 1st. Not only the does the production feel really warm & fits the mood, but the lyrics from three different brothas from different backgrounds with hopes & aspirations really comes across well. Meek Mill makes me proud to be from Philly. Good to see the young bull staying loyal to reppin’ the hometown accurately. Showing love to the O.G.’s & even to the cats that first put him on like T.I. There’s going to be a remix to this joint & Meek Mill told Vibe Magazine that he had purposely delayed the remix so that T.I. could hop on following his release from prison. Now that’s love & loyalty. Stand up guy. Especially considering it was T.I. who gave Meek Mill his first major shot in the industry. This video right here was also directed by Philly native Benny Boom. You already know….it’s 215, 610 all day!

I’m proud to be from Philly & even more proud to see Meek Mill show love to other artists like Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Young Chris & others from Philly who paved the way by having them in his new video “I’m A Boss” which is also being shot by Philly’s own Benny Boom. I can’t wait to see the final product of the video since it appears that they shot alot of it in my old North Philly neighborhood. What’s real is that during the summer it’s not unusual to see cats on the bikes & four-wheelers like this racing across the city. Good feeling to see the unity. I was feeling this song the first time I heard it despite the heavy luxury big baller references in the lyrics. Maybe it was the production of the track more so than the lyrics itself that caught my attention the most. Those Justice League dudes really do some great work on the production of many of Rick Ross’s bangers. I think Philly’s Meek Mill has a very good opportunity to develop as a artist as long as he constantly elevates his bars. Looks like that whole Maybach Music machine is already there for him to get the proper push, but he must stay cognizant to keeping his lyrics sharp. Maybach Music’s ‘Self Made’ album drops May 24th just before the Memorial Day Weekend….
